Another example is the Ikire, Osun menace. When the culprits were caught, they were easterners with some westerners.
So you see.

Lastly, the government tried to curb the issue by tackling the root cause. The single cause of Herdsmen conflict is competition for forage or water especially during the dry season. A herdsman may mistakenly or intentionally graze a farmer's cropland out of desperation to feed his cattle during the dry season. On seeing this the angry farmer protests and may try to attack the cattle or the herder, then that fights back and conflict begins which may be fatal. In some cases, some sinister Herdsmen may beat, injure or kill the farmer as a proactive measure.

Then the government brought a solution to this; RUGA settlement. Unfortunately, it was politicised and many claimed that the president had ulterior motives. I'm not here to say who's right or wrong. However, it is disappointing to see that none of all the people castigating the RUGA settlement scheme proffered an alternative solution to the problem.

I must say i totally disagree with you. I have followed this thread and resolved not to make comments in nairaland because of the tribal bigotry and uncivilised manner most people communicate on this forum.
Now first, you said the government has been doing a lot on this. For four years and counting , we are to see actual results to show that they Are doing something.
You talked about the herdsmen jumping into the bush with their cows but. U didn't think it was possible for them to commit such crimes when not with their cows. I mean their cows can be watched over by their brother herdsmen.
Lastly you Made mention of the government profering a solution in the forn of RUGA and it was rejected without an alternative solution. That statement is totally untrue as people have always given a much modern solution which is being practiced all over the world and that is ranching

These two ideologies are not only erroneous but they're dangerous. I once travelled to the east and to be candid the inhumane people I met there were more than the good people I met there. If I wanted to write about the negative things I saw there perhaps I'll create a novel.
But it would be wrong and unjust of me to do so. Why? I met some of the best people I've ever met in my life there. I saw that an Igbo man will do anything for money. Their love for money is beyond what I can describe. This makes many of them do crazy things in the name of money but then there are many Igbos that will never cross the legit boundary for the sake of money.

You should see fulanis in the same light but this time replace money with cattle.

Also, I can't dispute that some fulanis are into kidnapping but then many Igbos are into it too even before the fulanis.

If you say there's alarming insecurity in the country I'll agree with you. But saying that one tribe is responsible for all insecurity issues, I think that's erroneous.

I dont think the fulanis are responsible for all yhe insecurity in the country, but here is what i do think. I think that the increased boldness with which the inhumane killiings have been going on in different parts of Nigeria especially in farmlands and villages where there is less government presence gives calls for concern. I also think that complete communities that have been raided with the few survivors point fingers at the 'fulani herdsmen'. Of cos they might not be the herdsmen we know but if they disguise as herdmen and MACBAN gives excuses for the assults, then its more likely to think that they are afterall herdsmen �. There sure is no smoke without fire.
