Please what is the difference between a dream and a vision? Scriptural references will be appreciated. Thank you.

I waited for the Lord’s answer,

DREAM is from your activity and about your activities

VISION is usually a message or contains messages of the past present or future or even of other dimensions and realms

dream comes to you in your subconscious state of sleep. Vision just rolls in while your eyes are wide open and you are conscious.

do you not have a contemporary bible translation? HE HAD VISIONS not DREAMS..... any person will know that.... see you are not asking to know, you just want to air your opinion..... stop OPENING the bible with a CLOSED mind.

Dreams,you are involve in most cases.its like your personal world.
Vision,programmed activities,just like watching a movie.

Dreams are Images, Thoughts, or Emotions occurring during sleeps. See Genesis, Judges, Daniel and Matthew. Dreams are sometimes regarded as communications with God. See Job, Jeremaih. The interpretation of Dreams belongs to God. See Zech.


Visions are supernatural communications to The Mind of a person. God is our Instructor, Director and Discernment. He performs these Functions through His Prophets and Apostles of Christ. Elijah, Paul, Mohammed & T.B Joshua.

Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

I think it is this vision and dream that the OP is inquiring about. Dream is more of prophecy or revelation in nature. Vision is expansive and progress inspiring in a sense.

A vision is a goal you are aspiring to achieve in your life time while a dream is a hope or wish you believe will come to pass even after you're dead.

When pastor imagines himself sucking the choir mistress's boobs, that is a dream!!!

When pastor plans on using 10% of your salary,plus that of other congregation members to buy a private jet, that is 'vision'!!!
