Ekiti State Govt Introduces Remita For Integrated Funds Collection by Ekiti360(m): 6:38am On Aug 11, 2019
The Ekiti State Government has adopted Remita, a leading electronic payment platform in Africa, as the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) collections for collection of funds due to its Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), for both formal and informal sectors.

This announcement was made recently as part of Ekiti State Government’s deepening of the implementation of the state’s Treasury Single Account initiative.

Powered by SystemSpecs, the financial technology and human capital software powerhouse and owners of Remita, the project covers 70 MDAs and institutions in Ekiti State.

The Remita platform will enable payers to seamlessly make payments to Ekiti State MDAs and institutions, using any of the Remita channels (State-wide Payment Points, Bank Branches (commercial and microfinance), Debit/Credit Cards, Internet Banking, PoS, Mobile Wallet and USSD) that is most convenient for them.

The State is able to issue invoices for every transaction; each transaction is traceable from the point of invoicing through the payment journey and into the State’s bank statement. Each MDA is able to verify transactions receipts independently and securely before delivery service. The state also has access to real-time balances of its accounts at any point in time.

“As part of our commitment to transform the lives of the good people of Ekiti state, we have commenced the accelerated implementation of the Treasury Single Account to entrench accountability and transparency in the management of the finances of our dear state, said Mr. Dapo Kolawole, Ekiti State Commissioner for Finance.

“We have appointed SystemSpecs, the same firm that delivered the Federal Government of Nigerias TSA project to deploy its Remita platform for Ekiti State. We are not only delighted that individual and corporate citizens have more options with which to pay, but also that government can also more easily know its true financial position at any time.”

This development would also enable the state to participate in the 2018 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) conditional grants scheme initiated by the Federal Government.

“We are delighted to partner with Ekiti State in bringing efficiency, transparency and increase to the state’s revenue collections. We appreciate the opportunity to bring our experience and technology to the table in support of the state’s drive to reposition its finances for accelerated economic development. SystemSpecs has done same with the Federal Government and other states in Nigeria, and we are starting to the same in other African countries, said Demola Igbalajobi, Divisional Head, Remita Payment Gateway and Infrastructure, SystemSpecs.

Good development, the State would witness a spike in its internally generated revenue.

Why most of our services are still not automated baffles me. I was at the Abuja train station a while ago and had to stand on the queue for close to 1hr just to purchase tickets! I reckon that we prefer cash transactions becos the ogas on top want to chop.

I applaud the state govt for taking the initiatives. Hopefully they will do a comparative analysis of their IGR before and after the implementation.

The difference will be clear...

My former company was awarded a contract to build a solution that would collect funds for a federal parastatal and also give insights into collections for the FG last year, till date the powers that be haven't let that project see the light of the day.

Very good move, ministry of interior and other FG MDAs have already adopted this payment solution that gives tax payers maximum comfort to pay tax dues and levies from anywhere unlike backward PDP states that you have to visit a specific bank far away from you to cue just to pay vio fines, tax, and other goverment levies

P.S; ikpeazu kerosene slaves please keep off,

The civil service in conjuction with the politicians are our problems. Without the former, the later cannot corruptly enrich themselves.

Lol... Begging for a room. I had a construction project around there and didn't want to stay at the hotel. You just don't say anything just because you can.

My problem with this policy is the fact that the ungodly charges have now been passed to the payer.
To pay for N50,000 hostel fee at FUNAAB, I paid over N2,000 in charges shared by the hawks - remita and banks.

In Nigeria, everybody seems just wired up to rip off his neighbour. That's why the FG can forcefully collect N50, even on N1k deposit.
