Tell me,what was the main excuse most people on those platforms gave for wanting Rohr to be sacked?
Different excuses from different type of people

I see those places as a comedy zone

I dont take people serious there because 90 percent of them no nothing about football.

We are very ungrateful. I always defend Rohr not because he is the best or very perfect but for rebranding the team and turned it to one of the most feared team in Africa now.

Before he came on board the team was a laughing stock all over Africa. We failed to qualify for afcon back to back after winning in 2013. Everybody lost hope in the team which where ridiculed by its own fans when they turn out for an encounter.

Even when we Nigerians saw the team in the same group with Zambia, Algeria and Cameroon no one believed that we will finish top of the group without losing a match and with a game spare.

We were unlucky to find ourselves in a tough group at the world cup, a group that produced the tournaments 1st runner up and Argentina who were knocked out by eventual champions France and Iceland that won England in euro 2016 and made it to the quarter finals. Even upon that the team fought hard but couldn't scale through.

Now after the SA defeat in uyo during the qualifiers the team went on to win its remaining matches with only a draw away to SA which was caused by the dubious officiating of the match.

Went to Afcon which they failed to qualify for since 2013 edition and finished as the tournaments 3rd best team notwithstanding that this year's afcon had 24 teams unlike previous edition that had 16.

Rohr has his own flaws of which the best coaches in world football also to possess the same but atleast let's appreciate the good work he has done since coming in.

Of late players are being invited on merit unlike when a quota was giving to local based players at the expense of better players playing their trades in Europe.

andrew444:
I swear rohr is not a bias coach

But 70 percent of people here dont like rohr

Na there you go take know say most Nigerians are ungrateful and confused, they want things to be done in their own way

They prefer those egunje coaches like siasia and co to rohr

Different excuse yes,but the major one was about his style of play. u can't blame them...a lot of Nigerians grew up watching the super play attacking football! the kind of football that made us popular and feared across Africa in the 1990s...the kind of football that won us Atlanta'96 ..even in the early 2000s,we still played that kind of football .
Rohr has introduced a new style of conservative football that most people aren't familiar with.. its the same thing that Swedish coach has done with the super falcons... Imagine us playing with fear against teams like South Africa!! Most of us are simply not used to it hence the complaint.... .
Imagine that barca appoint a new coach and he starts playing Claude le peul type of football, u won't complain??

Trust me I don't hate the man at all..I actually appreciate what he has done for our football since he took over..we are more organised now.. but we can achieve much better if he could upgrade his game management ability... the refresher course at Bayern may just be the perfect thing for him...

Oga there is nothing wrong with osimhen being a light weight according to you

Is abraham not light weight?

Nobody will compare osimhen to drogba, they are trying to say they are similar, its no harm being similar to a legend like drogba.
Abraham is not LIGHTWEIGHT by any stretch of the imagination.

But Osimhen is not similar to Drogba you can say Benteke, Lukaku, Josh King, Mitrovic, Demba Ba are similar because they are very physical players.

Hmmm maybe but let's remember Ravel Morrison who was better than Pogba at the youth level didn't get games with the first team either. Fergie might have overrated Cleverly but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was all bias/racism.

Look what some people in the know had to say about it:

The Main Reason Why Sir Alex Ferguson Did Not Trust Paul Pogba

Adnan Riaz in FOOTBALL

José Mourinho smashed Manchester United's club-record transfer in 2016 to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford.

While there have been moments where the 25-year-old United ace has been criticised for his performances, his current form under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær will be enough proof for some fans that he is one of the best midfielders in the world.

Even when he was at the United youth academy, there were many that saw the potential of Pogba.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson allowed him to leave the club for Juventus in 2012 after he turned down a contract.

Okay, some fans would be quick to lambast the legendary United manager for letting him leave and then the Red Devils paying as much money as they did to re-sign him, but it seems like he had his reservations about the World Cup-winning Frenchman.

According to the i newspaper, United 'insiders' revealed that the 77-year-old Scotsman believed that Pogba wasn't mature enough.

Interestingly, the claims are backed up from a number of different viewpoints.

Former United player Darren Fletcher echoed similar sentiments about the former Juventus star when he spent some time coaching the Red Devils reserves.

"I did a spell coaching with the [Manchester United] reserve team, which included Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Ravel Morrison -- a lot of talented players," he told Sky Sports' Monday Night Football in 2018.

"We played [Pogba] a lot higher up the pitch in attacking areas and we felt like he was the one that could go and win us games really.

"A combination of the fact that we felt he had a little bit of ill-discipline in the middle of the park as more of a central midfielder."

In fact, historian Tony Park made an observation that suggested Pogba was fairly inconsistent for the youth team.

"Pogba would have one great game, one average game and one anonymous game," he explained.

"It was why Fergie didn't trust him. When he arrived there were 10 to 15 new players around the scene at the time, all with bigger reputations.

"Ravel Morrison was by far the standout and coaches were giving him lots of attention. Pogba's ability was not in doubt, it was his inconsistency, that's been an issue all his career."

Well, the rest is now history.

Pogba once again rewarded Solskjær's faith in him against Fulham, opening the scoring with a brilliant strike in the first half.

He followed up his performance in the second half after he scored from the spot kick and United secured a 3-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Where will United finish in the Premier League this season?

Let us know in the comments.
I had seen Pogba as youth player.

And one of my friend a football agent was quite close to him. I knew his older twin brother when he was at Crew with Chuks. I also knew his brother agent he seemed to be Eastern European.

What is said in the papers is not necessarily the truth.

There is always a racial divide in clubs more so in the North of England.

Although saying that Liverpool is TOTALLY DIFFERENT since the arrival of the last two Managers and HO of the academy.

Ravel Morrison is a WASTEMAN totally unserious and highly indisciplined. He want to groove. I hope he has changed otherwise a total waste of talent.

The NFF wasn't stable between 2014 to 2016 ..too many fightings and change of coaches between that period..it obviously affected the team.. but now, things are good...we have players in better leagues now!..

As far as Rohr is concerned, there's a divided opinion about him among Nigerian... anyhow,he has a other chance to do better.... With the way our team is now I see no reason why we can't win the next AFCON!!

Bros forget the team known for the attacking brand of football they exhibited in the 90s and 2000s. Our biggest problem is living in the past believing that come sun come rain we are the best not only in Africa but in the world which gave so many sentimental fans hope that the team will win Croatia at the world cup.

Football have evolved and every coach has his philosophy of the game and pattern. Secondly they re no minnows anymore in world soccer. The same way we are working hard to improve our team that is the same way others are working hard too.

Morroco that displayed the best soccer at the just concluded afcon were ousted by benin that have not won an afcon match for over a decade upon the high caliber euro born and based players in the morrcon side.

Madagascar that made their debut in the competition tore us to shreds and even made it to the quarterfinals of the competition that had 24 teams for the first time.

The biggest we fans have is we overhype our team and players which tend to us having high expectations which when it's not met we demand the head of the coaching crew.

It's not 100% guareented but highly possible because we have a very young squad which comprises of talented players doing great things in top leagues in Europe that have played under the same coach for over 2 years. The players understands each other better now and has the tendency to get better.

The teams progression so far have been impressive so the next target now is gunning for the trophy in the next afcon but at the same time nothing is certain.

The way we are unearthing talented players so are other African nations doing the same. This is the main reason I clamor for Rohr's continuation with the team because having a new coach now will disrupt the teams progress and their is tendency that they may not sync to the new gaffer idea perfectly before the next afcon

I know we are fans and therefore fanatical but must we put our brains into the bin.

I will never fault Collin's invitation. We have been looking for a left back for years, not even one of us here could even recommend an inform natural left back.

komekn:
I don't think they were discovered as such by Rohr.

Osimhen was already given preferential treatment on past youthful glories. Onyekuru was invited but not given opportunity when he was tearing think up.

Collins was in Bundesliga 2 and average but invited.

Ebuehi was the only one that l think was actually given opportunity.

In reality there is s lot of background movements with NFF officials and agents pushing thier individual players forward.

Anybody who thinks that Rohr has total control and it's all about his soke decision then your in Delusion.

Gianfranco Zola gives verdict on Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham following Man Utd loss
By MATT PENN

PUBLISHED: 19:25, Mon, Aug 12, 2019 | UPDATED: 21:03, Mon, Aug 12, 2019

CHELSEA striker Tammy Abraham may find it hard to adjust to the Premier League, having played mostly Championship football throughout his career.
That’s according to Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola, who spoke to beIN Sports about the youngster’s future at the Blues.

Abraham was given the No 9 shirt in the summer after an impressive pre-season under new boss Frank Lampard.

Last season, the England Under-21 international spent the season on loan with Aston Villa and helped them get promoted.

When Lampard was appointed manager in July on a three-year deal, the former midfielder was quick to ensure that some of Chelsea’s younger players got their chance to break into the first team.

And Lampard decided that against Manchester United on the opening day of the season, he would start Abraham and Mason Mount.

Chelsea ultimately lost the game 4-0 after individual errors saw United capitalise on a noticeably inexperience Blues team.

Abraham did, though, hit the post in the opening 10 minutes of the game, before showing some good hold-up play moments for the remainder of his time on the pitch.

And Zola, who was assistant manager at Chelsea last season when Maurizio Sarri was in charge, believes Abraham will have to adjust to life in England’s top flight at first.

“Maybe in the beginning he might suffer because you know the difference from the Championship and the Premier League is huge,” he said.

“He will have to adapt but he has a lot of energy, he’s positive.

“I think in the end he will get to the level he needs to be.”

Zola also mentioned that Abraham would need better service from his team-mates, who in the Italian’s opinion, underperformed against United.

“But he will have to be supported more from the others, Pedro will have to produce more offensively and also all the others,” he added.

Chelsea come up against Liverpool next in the Super Cup final on Wednesday in Istanbul.

The west London side will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Leicester at the weekend.

Collins today is a bundesliga player which is one of the top 5 leagues in the world. folks here will never rate him but he was an ever present figure in paderborn's first 11 right from the german 3rd tier to 2nd tier where they got promoted but will agitate and clamor for the inclusion a player who struggled to get game time in porto B team.

i remember when the lad was first invited, so many pple here cried and screamed to high heaven because rohr invited a bundesliga 2 player to the super eagles as if we have any playing in madrid or barca that was ignored.

my happiness is we have so much depth right now aside from the midfield department. at least we can boast of 2-3 decent players in a particular position which is very good for the team unlike before and thank God we have a coach who have the balls to stand up to some administrators in the nff in defense of picking players on merit not quota.

Folarin Balogun bagged a hat-trick as Arsenal came from a goal down to beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 in their Premier League 2 Division 1 opener at the Lancashire FA HQ on Monday evening.

Tolaji Bola, James Olayinka and Balogun started the game for the young Gunners, while fit again central defender Joseph Olowu replaced Rob Holding 17 minutes into the second half.

Arsenal were level at the break thanks to a goal from Balogun, who slotted home the rebound after a penalty he won was saved by goalkeeper Joe Hilton in the 30th minute.

With seven minutes left on the clock, the Nigerian striker won another penalty for his side and this time he didn't make any mistake, scoring from 12 yards out to give the Gunners a 2-1 lead.

The 18-year-old went home with the match ball after netting his third of the evening from the spot with almost the last kick of the game.

With his hat-trick against Blackburn Rovers, Balogun has now scored four hat-tricks for Arsenal youth teams in the U18 Premier League and Premier League 2 since the start of the 2018-2019 season.

Everton manager Marco Silva says Alex Iwobi’s current fitness level is not good enough as he is just coming back from holiday after representing Nigeria at 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, but will be involved in the club’s training schedule ahead of their second Premier League match of the season against Watford on Saturday, reports Completesports.com.

Everton brought in Iwobi in a surprise move on transfer deadline day, but he was billed to train with the Toffees for the first time today (Monday).

Iwobi missed out on playing in Everton’s first match of the season against Crystal Palace.

And Silva has suggested that it could take a while before Iwobi is ready to start games for Everton, as he is so far behind the rest of his teammates in terms of fitness.

“He will start to work with us on Monday,” Silva told Liverpoolecho.co.uk.

“He was on holiday after the Africa Cup. He starts on Monday and let’s see how he reacts but there is a big gap between him and his team-mates, the physical condition will be a big gap, but let’s see.

“Normally my decisions are coming from the training sessions and let’s see how he will play, how he will do in the training sessions and after that I will take my decision on Friday.”

Everton’s next match comes against Silva’s former side Watford on Saturday, and the Toffees will hope to get their first win of the season under their belts in front of their own fans at Goodison Park.

I don't usually use the word "hate" when discussing football matter but this your continual downgrade of Osimhen is getting out of hand!! .. Osimhen just left the Belgian league where he performed exceptionally well..he was exceptional at the u-17 world cup too so it was normal that his move to Wolfsburg should be celebrated! ..I mean for God's sake he is a Nigerian! a product of our youth team! what else were we supposed to do other than support him??

it is hypocritical for u to keep using his Wolfsburg days to judge him when some of ur favorite boys like Iorfa,Ojo,Onyedima,Solanke, etc had bad times at different clubs too but u tag them "exceptional”!
I can bet my testicles that u didn't know who Okereke was until he moved to Belgium . there's no guarantee yet that he will surpass Osimhen's record in Belgium..heck! he isn't the first Nigerian to hit it right in Belgium!
Osimhen has upgraded from Belgium to France so its totally normal for him to be rated ahead of Okereke... and like I said earlier,he is well known among Nigerian fans! he has been in the scene for long...Okereke just entered recently...

Give the boy the credit he deserves!!
In most things I do I try to be objective.

First of all, what in your understanding is downgrading a playerhuh ❓ Because I don't join the same train euphoric praise for a player doesn't mean HATE or DOWNGRADE. Give me one not two instancees where l down graded Osimhen.

Osimhen has done excellently well but he has just played his first season of professional football. That's perspective. He is on a forward progression hopefully it will continue.

Second presumption without substance. Favourite players, talking about a player doesn't make him.your favourite. I talk about KC but he not my favourite player. Solanke is a distraction to this discussion l have met him several times and said he has no affinity to Nigeria in any way essentially he's Oyibo. Where When did l PERSONALLY call him exceptionalhuh

Onyedinma l haven't talked about him for some two seasons as a quality prospect. He made some very unwise decision and his career has lost traction. Another misinformation.

Ojo I know and talked about him being an option for the LWB because we didn't have one. Good quality players but Exceptional not yet. Where did l say excellent exceptionalhuh ❓ more unfounded assumptions.

Iorfa I have given a history lesson several times and stated the issue of UNFAIR practice by the NFF and huge amounts of misinformation and untruthful storie. I have said he was regarded as exceptional in his team and with England. I know of him and know his agent and former club quite ( Wolves) I dint think l have called him EXCEPTIONAL EXCELLENT TALENT. I have been critical saying I think he lacks technical ability and intelligence. But pace aerial dominance strength and doggednes a big YES, l think he will become he has the potential to become a quality CB if he evolves.

Not too long ago well 2917/18 season l said that Fikayo Tomori is poor. Well one season later he has turned it all around to be an excellent CB. I said this month's ago he us the best CB we have yet to be capped. That's becoming a possibility he us now on the bench for Chelsea.

I had heard of him in Seria B. I know Nigerian Origin players who left England to play in Seria B, So don't presume.

Your final statement concerning Osimhen and Okereke is plain bigotry and biased standard. When Osimhen did well in Belguim it was a unit of measurement. However now that Okereke is doing it, it's no longer relevant that's blatant hypocrisy.

Okereke has been on the scene but ignored.

Finally, please let's not use the name if God in vain the fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom.

You are being far from factual and truthful.

The fanatical favoritism for Osimhen started before he had played a single game for Wolfsburg.

He had a good if not exceptional season after failing vat Wolfsburg he has done well. But he has just started in the French league.

I can assure looking at type of player Okereke is if he continues scoring goals regularly like this he will be in the EPL in January. Mark my words
The support for Osimhen comes from his exploits at youth level and that is understandable.

And yes, he did have a tough time at Wolfsburg but injury played a major role there. He had an exceptional response in Belgium which earned him a move to a better league.

He has earned the praise.

I am one of the first persons who started raving about Okereke here but right now Osimhen is better known and playing at a higher level. It is a no brainer that people will talk more about Osimhen.

If Okereke scores 20 goals or more like Osimhen did by the way,he will earn a big move too.
