Family of one the police officers, who were murdered by soldiers of the 93 Battalion in Taraba State, has demanded justice over the gruesome murder of their son, Inspector Mark Edaile.

The immediate elderly brother of the slain officer, Andrew Edaile, who disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, also called for an independent enquiry by local and international bodies to unravel the death of the officer who has served the nation for 16years.

He warned that if the Nigerian government fails to carry out a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, the family would resolve that the murder of the late police officer was an act of conspiracy.

“We come before all well-meaning Nigerians and the international community at large to voice out our displeasure over the gruesome murder and inglorious killing of our brother who went on official duty for his beloved country that he has served for over 16years,” Andrew Edaile said.

“We vehemently speak against the perpetrators of this heinous act by the Nigerian Army and we demand a very thorough investigation by national, international community and as well independent body so that justice will be truly served.

Edaile, who was flanked by the wife of the victim, Olubunmi Edaile and other members of his family blamed the army for the death of the inspector.

“The same Army that is charged with protecting the citizens of the country happens to be the perpetrators at the helm of this heinous and barbaric act.

“Our question is, who are these soldiers working for? Whose side are they on? And whose payroll are these military personnel on? This and many more questions we demand answers to. We also demand to know the kidnapper was released by the army.

He noted that the action has called to question the integrity of the law of Nigeria while adding that it also causes grief to the families of the late police officer.

Edaile explained that the family have been shattered since the news of the murder of their late brother broke.

“Nothing should be swept under the carpet and we demand justice, we also want the perpetrators to be brought to book.

Nigeria and the insecurity challenge.

President Muhammadu Buhari is not helping matters by his nonchalant attitude to the problem of insecurity in Nigeria.

It's sad and strange that Nigerian Army has killed more civilians than terrorists or killer herdsmen in the last couple of weeks... Waiting for the imbeciles that will come and tell me it happens in other countries, hence no biggie. undecided

It's so painful things like this happens between forces that are meant to be brothers in the fight against crime. I recalled the Nigerian police killed a Civil defence officer recently in Abuja, nothing was said about justice from their end and never thought it will come around. It's high time the Nigerian Government set things straight between all these agencies and make sure anyone found culpable of any office is brought to Justice. Rip to the slain officers and bearing grace to their families.
Officers, make your hand they clean in the discharge of your duties so that nemesis no go catch up with you. He no matter how long you don kill an innocent man, him blood go always speak vengeance.
God will continue to protect you all as you give your best to this nation.

Justice ( I laugh ) when something does not happen to u, u will not know how it feels

What about the people police illegally kill everyday and others they throw in prison for no reason and more we don't know about do they get justice even when the innocent ask for justice they will just cover up because they are police

I'm not saying they should not get justice what I'm saying is that Justice should be for everyone and not for the forces and for our politicians alone.

I am so far impressed how the police is taking up the case. they are not backing down and also glad the family have come out. In Nigeria we should also remember the slain have family which is the koko not tribe , religion or state. Lets put a human face to it.

I believe they will get justice. But the army must also pay financially to the family.

All the soldiers in that battalion their BVN should be traced and accounts looked into and that of their wives and children.

If security agents could be slaughtered in this manner by fellow security agents, then what is the expectation of the ordinary civilian they are supposed to protect. 16 years of selfless service, only to be slaughtered like a chicken. What a country.
