Ohanaeze President General, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, was asked on Arise TV during and interview what he thought about Omoyele Sowore's arrest. Below is what he said

Question: Do you think that Sowore's utterance or body language justifies his arrest and detention?

Nwodo: When you make this case look so exemplary, in the South East we have a group of young men who say 'we dont want to be part of this country again, we want Biafra'. They are not violent, they are not carrying any guns.

They have freedom of speech, association and to hold opinion according to our constitution and international conventions that we subscribe to.

When I was a student we picketed the house of parliament and Buckingham palace and nobody arrested us, if anything, the police protected us in England. Why proscribe them here?

What I'm trying to say is that Sowore is entitled to say he doesn't like what is going on here, it is his fundamental right. We have reduced our security service to a GESTAPO. If you speak against the government then you are commting a crime, that is balderdash. The judiciary is on trial and I wont be surprised if the judges are intimidated to say what government want them to

This is not democracy as practiced anywhere in the world
