There’s something I’ve realized: it’s better to fight wars on social media than doing so in real life. At least both participants learn to properly express themselves in written form in order to incense their opponent further. |

DesChyko:see your uninformed, biased response. The OP is 101% correct. Social media is an obfuscation of reality whether in education, dating, social interaction and all. Over 70% of Nigerian students can't write properly, neither can most youth maintain physical conversation and intetraction. The word "Phub" wasn't coined in Nigeria. It's a global situation that stems from the social disconnect when people completely ignore real live conversation and focus on their phones. As it is today, social media has given the world less than it has taken. |

When you tell our youths the truth the idiots amongst them will not heed to corrections rather they will blame APC AND Nigerian government for unemployment. |

DesChyko:You proved the OP right. Gradutes today are lacking very much in the critical thinking department. Just look at what you typed. |

Weathered:Uninformed? Biased? I bet my existence you can't even define your basis for this claim. 70% of Nigerian students refer to about 50 million people at secondary and tertiary levels who use the social media. So you mean this number have this problem. It would be interesting to know where this 'informed' information was obtained. The OP listed about five problems arising from social media on which my submission was based. However you see just one. The physical 'part'. And thus proceeded to label its entirety biased and uninformed based on your opinion on 'one'. That looks quite biased to me. Well, like I said and I will restate it incase you missed it. You abuse social media, you reap the negatives. It's as simple as that. One would be lucky to get away with being a social misfit only in a country that has a plan for its citizens from the day they were born. For a country like Nigeria, hunger is sure to perform the necessary brain reset even if one was destined to while away his/her life on social media. What we need to focus on now, is to harness the potential of social media now that its profits are tidy, not tackle irrelevant problems. |

Dudeweedlmao:I believe a 'critical thinking' person would proceed to highlight the faults in the submission and even proffer a better channel of thought..not neglecting to reassess his/her opinion before making it public. That way, you would have even taken care of possible objections from my end. Just look at what you typed. Did you even touch the log at all before aiming for the speck? |

Kay512:Just tell us what you're here to sell. Creating a blog is not rocket science. Anyone who has critical thinking & problem-solving skills like the OP's article pointed out should be able to do that without difficulty. |

DesChyko:50 million people at Secondary and University places of learning? That's nearly the population of South Africa! Did you rip that figure out of your ass? Whether we abuse social media or not, we all have seen the devastating effects of it, from fake news being spawned and unable to regulate. It affects everyone whether the abusers or not. Loss of feeling of connection and intetraction. We can go on and on. And the benefits, online sales? Interconnectivity? Network marketing? Are these worth all the obfuscation of life? I say social media is the harbinger of moral decline in the 21st century. |

Great point here. However, I dont thing the loss of those skills is due to social media. It has to do with our substandard educational system especially at primary and secondary school level. |
