Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Abba Kyari has queried the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS) over discrepancies in Tax collections from 2015 to 2018.

According to a letter seen by POLITICS NIGERIA addressed to Fowler, Kyari stated that there were significant variances between budgeted FIRS Collections and Actual Collections for Period 2015 to 2018.

He demanded a comprehensive variance analysis explaining the reasons for the discrepancies between budgeted and Actual collections for each main Tax item for each of the years 2015 to 2018.

The FIRS boss was also queried over Actual Collections for Periods 2015 to 2017 as it was 'Significantly Worse' that what was collected between 2012 and 2014. He was asked to explain the reasons for the poor collections.

Fowler was given a deadline on August 19th, 2019 to respond.

For those who don't understand the implication of this it means that revenue generation under the Jonathan govt was a lot better than the Buhari govt even though the Buhari govt has been feeding us with lies

The office of the chief of staff is tantamount to that of a PA with absolutely no administrative powers attached so what gave Abba kyari the locus standi to query the firs boss?

I thought that Buhari asked Tunde Fowler to step aside after his first tenure.

So, why is Kyari sending him a query?

Besides, apart from the great job Mr. Fowler did in Lagos, former finance minister Kemi Adeosun used to praise Fowler for doing a good job.
