The 'live sex' witnessed in the ongoing Big Brother Naija reality show seems to have gotten to the Federal Government as it has lodged a complaint with the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

The complaint led to arrangement for launch of a modified reality show where the true Nigerian culture will be shown, Nigerian food will be eaten and Nigerian dresses worn.

Otunba Segun Runsewe, the National Council for Arts and Culture Director-General disclosed this when paid a visit by the President of the National Council of Women Societies Dr Gloria Shoda.

It is also expected that the NCAC will represent the 2008 Nudity Bill titled ‘A Bill for an Act to punish and prohibit nudity, sexual intimidation and other-related offences in Nigeria,' sponsored by the former chairperson, Senate Committee on Women and Youth, Eme Ekaette.

“We are going to represent that bill You can’t fight a battle without a legal framework; we are definitely going to be conscious of that”, Runsewe assured.

“I will take up the issue of Big Brother Naija; I have spoken with officials of the National Broadcasting Commission because what is going on now is terrible. Having love affairs on screen is not part of our own culture at all.

“Let me use this forum to tell Nigerians that a new Big Brother Naija is on its way coming and we are working with Startimes. We are doing BBN that will reflect the true Nigerian culture. We are already working on it, all that will be eaten there will be Nigerian food, the dresses will be Nigerian dresses" he added.

On her own part, the NCWS President said she was concerned with the negative impact the live sex has on Nigerian youths.

Shoda said, “Having a live sex on stage is the thing affecting my sensibility and it is impacting negatively on the young children coming up. Does it mean that they can’t abstain from sex for three months? I’m condemning the sex content on BBN.”

I actually dont like the Big Brother show sef cos i find it boring but

1. It is called cable TV for a reason. Your regular censorship won't work.

2. Your new BBN that "seeks to promote Nigerian culture" will be a massive failure and look like something produced by NTA because it is not original, it will be a cheap imitation with less than 10% viewership and even much less in interest.

3. Stealing money is also not part of your culture but here we are.

4. Runsewe should be more busy promoting festivals like Osun, Ojude Oba, Calabar festival, New Yam festival, Argungun festival and the likes not worrying his head about a TV show.

5. Live sex scenes are affecting her sensibilities and for some reason, she didn't flip the station to the boring African Magic Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa?

6. The show is rated. If any child is watching it, it is more of the fault of the parent than that of the child or the show itself.

I knew immediately MURIC made a comment on BBN, something is definitely cooking.

In as much as I don't like the program as I don't find it adding any value to my life, sometimes I wonder the craze for it, but we have to be very honest and logical here.

That program is on cable TV, meaning you have to pay for subscription, it is only available to those that subscribed.

That program is rated 18, meaning it has an adult content, I wonder if they are not seeing it. Any parent that allowed a child watch that program should be held responsible and not the organizers of the program.

If they Ban BBN, what about other programs and movies that are rated 18 airing on the cable TV? That means we may also wake up one-day and hear that DSTV have been ordered to remove all programs rated 18,.

Read about broadcasting. Even if it is cable, DSTV Nigeria is registered as a Limited Liability and subject to the laws of broadcasting.

They can restrict the broadcast from being viewed in Nigeria.

In UAE, some sites are blocked from being accessed within the country, likewise some channels are also blocked from being viewed even on cable in some countries.

Just study broadcasting code well and also about satellite TV.

GOTV is operating on DTT and can be restricted.
