does the system spec determines the object created to be high or low poly?

Yes. The greater the specs the more you'd have freedom to create larger-scaled projects. With low specs you'd seriously be struggling with no freedom
Benjaniblinks:
Where did u get your pre built system?

Abj. Zone 3 shopping complex
I haven't bought online, I don't know how problem-free they are

SO you added only a gpu and ram. I'll check one here in kaduna. So what are your limitation now?

No, it's a 2600 and pls do get that 6th gen if you can, though 4th would still do well if you won't be ble to get the 6th and higher. Cuz, I'm starting a gradual upgrade this year. Little by little I'll rebuild the system, pick components I need and throw the rest away.

Good day bro, how can I learn this animation , I have the laptop spec, but am currently serving in kano

Ram, CUP and GPU... That's basically everything.
Arnold renderer, which is the render engine I use is a CPU-based render engine and core i7 2600 is a very old processor.
I need gpu and ram for the interface/viewport management. Right now I have limit to the number of polygons I create. Or else I won't even be able to animate. The interface would lag like hell.

Take a look at his scene I created. It is so polygons heavy that I can't even click anything in the scene. Sometimes Maya would just crash before it loads he scene. With bigger ram and a better GPU that won't be a problem.

Get the software and basic videos from YouTube.
Then if you encounter any problem you share and I would do my best to help

Hey bro.

I have a laptop ATM with the following spec;

Corei5
6GB RAM
2GB Nvidia 840m

Can i run maya for now to practice a few things i learned coz i plan on buying a bigger desktop later.

What and what do you think i should run/disable within the software to prevent any damage on my PC?

Yes it would run maya you don't need to disable anything. You have an Nvidia gpu, so you have more heat tolerance.
It should get you through all basic to intermediate works. Just avoid choking it until it lags.

Thank you bro!

With the laptop spec, do you recommend I render using CPU or GPU?

I don't think you got much of a choice. Most free render engines use CPU. And the ones that use GPU would require a high-end GPU.
CPU rendering isn't bad at all

Please i need help, I tried out the rigid body simulation with multiple boxes and they were all exploding at the beginning of the animation, isn't there a way of timing their animation like when to begin and when to stop

You have to increase their gravity in the properties setting panel.
Also, you can set the start and end of the frame in these right panel.

I'm using a desktop.
You can use a desktop(preferable) or laptop with minimum of
core i5,
2gb or 1gb Nvidia gpu,
8gb ram
FOR A START
But you're gonna need to upgrade very soon. Like a year after

For one that would stand the rest of time for a while, get
Minimum
Core i7 5th gen
12gb ram
Nvidia gpu 900 series 2gig

Ram and processors are key, of you wanna use maya

You can start from bein familiar with the interface and then start making simple shapes to become familiar with the tools then we move up from thur

Can laptop with the following spec work?
15.6 inch screen
Windows 10
Hdmi
Webcam
Cd rom
16 gb ram
500gb hdd
i5 quad core 2.5ghz
Thanks

self taught or you went to school?
Because I can only model hard objects with zero curves or round parts. Do you have any advice to further my skills?

Nice. Also started with that. Try to follow Andrew price's donuts tutorial. You'd find it helpful. I advise that you download the videos on youtube so you can watch offline.
