Good morning folks. Kindly advice me on this: I applied for a student visa in 2007. I had to travel to lagos to sit for SAT exams as the centres were almost non existent in abuja then. Unfortunately I was issued a fake result. Unknowingly I took it to the embassy then and I was denied based on that document. Fast forward 12years after. I have an Msc, married with 3kids and work with an international development organisation. I now seek to apply to go to the US with just my wife and last born. My wife runs a business where she sells baby cloths and beauty products. I want to ask what are our chances of been issued a visa? Do you think I was banned when I first went to the embassy 12years ago? Is it better we apply to go the UK first before applying to the US embassy? Please not that I still do not have any travel history. I will appreciate your response and admonitions.

Yes you can actually apply at any time. The US ban on fraudulent documents is 10 years and that time has elapsed

It is better you reapply and then when given a date for the interview it should give you the chance to present the corrected bill to the VO.

Now the question about how long to get any interview date will be decided by the US embassy.

Since you claim that you are not in a hurry to travel anytime soon then reapply and then wait for an interview date.

Thanks for the advice.

good day nairalanders, pls who is also with me on this, is their any issue concerning booking appointments date in Lagos u.s embassy cause they are not bringing any date for now for lagos
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by wuki: 6:45pm On Aug 20, 2019
Securing an appointment has been akin to winning the lottery: hit or miss. I managed to secure a date last week for a couple - earliest date I could secure was mid November. I believe I read a news report on PUNCH this morning about complaints from Nigerians on securing a visa appointment

My fiancee is planning to send me a Us invite, is there any possibility that my visa will be approve?

Another question, what are the process in sending an invite?

The U.S embassy does not honor personal invites - except if it’s business related. Moreover, you wouldn’t want to give the embassy an impression that you are a potential migrant - given that your fiance is based in the U.S: you would have established a tie to the U.S so it’s natural for the VO to assume you won’t come back home to Nigeria - unless you can prove beyond reasonable doubt you’re only visiting your fiance. The general rule that every V.O must abide by is that the applicant is a migrant unless they are able to prove otherwise. I don’t work at the mission but I’m privy to contacts at the embassy and this is more in line with some of the advise I give my clients who are in a similar situation. Don’t get me wrong, you can secure a visa but with a different approach that’s less suspicious.

Hi. There isn't a one-size-fits-all advise when it comes to visas as you can already tell from this forum, reason being that every applicant is different. The question should be: what's your story? What's the narrative you're bringing with you to the consulate, bearing in mind you've got just 5 minutes or less at the interview window. What ties do you have to Nigeria and what are the proofs?
If I was the VO and you told me you were going to visit your fiance, my first question would be why can't your finance come visit you instead? You get the idea.

If at this stage you don't know your left from your right, then you're planning to misuse your visa while making it hard for genuine travelers to get U.S visa especially those working in UAE with the aim of visiting U.S.
We must do better and we should start changing the narrative, UAE is not the green pasture, it's now U.S (there's no green pasture).
I will advise you to do your research about getting U.S Visa, your friend or cousin in U.S will have no say in your visa application.

Just for reference on my earlier comment about being presumed to be an immigrant until proven otherwise, see section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. You should be able to pull it up on Google pretty quickly. Every VO is trained on this.

You seem not to understand what you're getting yourself into, because your intention is illegal and I'm very sure you don't have what it takes to apply for migrant visa and get it. What you intended to do is to migrate to U.S illegally which will not be accepted on this forum.
What we do on this forum is to advise any intending visitor to U.S to visit and return to Nigeria as soon as possible not overstay which in turn will make it easier to approve U.S visa for Nigerians.

You advise him not blast him, 80% of Nigeria immigrants have same intent and didn't come back till date. Next time tell him the visa categories he should go for, and you don't tell people what is accepted or not in public forum cos it's not yours.

I did not blast him, he's one insulting me, calling stupid and all... You can't be asking if you can get to U.S through student or visit visa, we can't continue doing this to ourselves... if you want to apply for U.S Student visa, it's a process that you're willing to take without asking people to suggest if it's the easier way to U.S, surely that means your aim is to get to U.S and not return.
