I'm not an Efiko O! Abeg see my last result based on my attempt in July 2019 EO: 375 (C1/CLB9); EE: 216 (B1/CLB4); CO: 210 (B1/CLB5); CE: 210 (B2/CLB7). Ashame dey catch me.

Fisty! No shame at all.... 2 down EO and CE; 2 to go EE and CO. We have to refresh, refine and refire....na war for our future and the future of those pikin dem....no giving up bros.....by God's grace we must to collect that our COPR wey dey IRCC hand.

The option of TEF/TCF combo in Lome...something to think about....as someone said to me if you compare and contrast the % score needed to get CLB7 TCF may be easier...but I fully understand it's difficult to move on from a format that one is already conversant with.....consider sha.

We Move....God helping us all.

One may argue though that perhaps TEF examiners are more liberal with marking and they may give 75% more freely that TCF examiners would give 65% or 50%.....just me overthinking these things as usual undecided

.....but maybe something to consider for people who have not fully committed to either exam.

With what I read about TCF, the questions are on a scale, also are the scores. so the meaning of this to me is that higher level questions get higher scores. So I think one needs to practice more with the higher level questions.

Also from practicing, I noticed they start with the simpler ones before moving to the difficult ones.

Correct, questions are scaled from A1 to C2 and get progressively more difficult.

Hmmm, thanks for your prompt response I really appreciate it.
I am motivated but just in a hurry to learn and pass TEF However, I guess I need to start learning the language before focusing on the exam while also hoping Alberta PNP nominates me

Thank you.
you can get a good start on writing & reading from www.tobidam.com

Are u also insinuating that one should go for TCF? Based on even the chart u posted for CLB 10 and above there are 4 marks apart & 150 mark. So is it plausible?

I believe so
The TEF may be more lenient

Just putting my thoughts into writing....

The chart is from the canadian government website though....candidates will make of it what they will. Goodluck.

Nice info on TCF

I have a few questions on both please for the purpose of self evaluation.

1) Does anyone have an idea of how TEF scores are calculated to get this Reading - 300 total and Listening - 360 total?

considering that in the manual ir says there are Listening - 60 questions, 1 point for each correct answer. Can one just multiply by 6?? so if I get all 60 questions right that is 360 points?

Reading - 50 questions, 1 point for each correct answer. Can I just multiply by 6?

On TCF

As it is computer based. Is the scoring automated for all section including the speaking and writing? Or just like TOEFL where the speaking is recorded and writing typed on a computer but is scored by human rater?

If scored by Human rater, how does one compete favorably in a french speaking country.

You know there is an aspect of subjectivity to speaking and writing. Like in lome or cotonou for example, others are speaking fluently and then when it is a Nigerian turn person start to dey speak with English accent. will it not be advisable to do it in Lagos where the examiner will be hearing similar accent and even appreciate say we try small.

Please comments would be appreciated. Thanks

"i don't have any TCF experience sorry, your point is valid regarding Lagos but i think in Africa we all have the same french accent, even the African francophones speak with an african accent....it may be another story if you went to France or Belgium to write your TCF or TEF sha".

Thanks. I need like 30/40 points. I have 409 crs if i max my ielts. Age is not on my side. Are the classes on weekends?
Mamaroon:

It is possible...if you believe it is.

I would guess you can budget 6 to 12 months depending on how much time you have per day to devote to French.

Pls start by registering with AF. You can also read up from the start of this thread for some very useful advice.

Do you need only a few points extra or more in the region of 30/40?

Good day everyone. After going through the 48 pages on this topic, gathering materials and websites to prepare for TEF, I contacted the alliance Française here in Korea and was informed that they only conduct TCF and DELF/DALF. My question is, can I use the TEF materials and websites I had previously collated to study for TCF?
Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by amaya21: 11:59am On Aug 22, 2019
So, either way, you'll still learn the language. The French learning resources will still be useful. However, any sites that are strictly for TEF *may* not be applicable as the exam structure will differ.

Alright, thank you. In addition, guess I'll need to find some TCF study materials now.

Wishing you the best Bellerin.

Bellerin:
Just retook the TEF at AF Ibadan...

CE: long texts (biere vert, pantheon, globe trotters, la Societe actuel)

EE: 1. Une biche dans un supermarche (wink wink mamaroon)
EE: 2. les pays ressemble a cause de tourisme

EO 1: Call someone so you can test video games
EO 2: Convince a friend to take up a service that proposes gym classes outside.

We'll see in 3 - 4 weeks. Was undecided about taking it but eventually made the trip...met cool people.

Cheers to y'all preparing. Bonne chance!
