We don't have the required aircrafts for sustained bombardment, we don't have the required APC/MRAPS to enable an all-out land offensive(else we lose men like toilet paper), we are still digging trenches at this stage of the war, many cases of tired old AK47s jamming/overheated/exploding during battle; basically, we are sitting ducks, relegated to defending pockets of cleared zones. How then will ISWAP not continue to harass and overrun our bases in overwhelming numbers, seizing useless tanks and artillery?.
Those APCs, MRAPS, Tanks, rusty Aks and other atilleries you termed useless, ISWAP sacrifice their men and resources to have them, does that make any sense to you?

Eventually over 6 LGA in Borno are in control of Bokoharam.

Seems like we're far away from winning this war. It's high time the armed forces especially the Army and Airforce quadruple the number of Officers and men they're currently taking in. There are huge swathes of land unmanned especially in the north east, that's why BH can easily take territories with little or no resistance.

All the fronts in the Borno axis are effectively collapsing and right now Maiduguri is potentially threatened. Any combatant commander will tell you ISWAP are gonna make an attempt on the city soon except something is done to halt the momentum of the terrorists and right now the patronage network of the military and politicians in Abuja are out of ideas. This corrupt patronage network of the APC cabal of Buhari is why we are were we are today otherwise explain what the CDS and Buratai are still doing holding command. With a president that could not coherently articulate one point during the debates that a WAEC candidate can what else is there to expect other than a total disintegration of Nigeria as we know it. Anyone arguing against the reality on ground is the true enemy of Nigeria. The only hope now to save us all is the presidential elections petition tribunal who on the points of law adjudicated so far should sack the entire lot of this present clueless and corrupt government.

It's time to stop barking up the wrong tree. The armed forces is overstretched but does have a good intake generating the required combat elements and support. The problem is the leadership not the brave Nigerian soldier, sailor and airman that has held ISWAP at bay for ten years. "An army of dogs lead by a lion will defeat an army of lions led by a dog". This is our current predicament with everything wrong in Abuja.

We are not in short supply of good and effective commanders and boots on the ground to do the job. I could list them but under the present inept government competence is disregarded for loyalty. Nothing wrong with the armed having more than one officer of General rank but dilemma is promoting and giving sensitive command to ineffective officers based in tribe and religion. If you do the right things you get right results.

The populace is now is own worst enemy. Look at us all sitting down being made mockery of by a handful of men wearing agbada. In saner climes with the arguments already put forward at the tribunal that we have an unqualified individual occupying the office of president he would have since resigned or the populace we rise up against him. But here we are and legal wrangling goes on making mockery of us as a people that certificates are no longer necessary to obtain jobs. What a travesty it would be if this man Muhammadu Buhari is not thrown out of office. Nigeria right now is in need of a savior. God help us all.

My brother almost all of us working with Humanitarian organisations in Monguno and Damsak are planning on evacuating sincerely. The Federal Government currently is clueless on this insurgency. Some Military personnel down here have started deserting. The Government is hiding the truth bro. We are losing more soldiers than BH.

May God continue to keep us safe

PRESS RELEASE

TROOPS FRUSTRATE TERRORISTS ATTACK ON GUBIO AND MAGUMERI MARKETS

The attention of the Nigerian Army in the Theatre of Operation Lafiya Dole has been drawn to reports on various media platforms indicating attack on Gubio and Magumeri communities in Borno State at about 1735hrs of Wednesday the 21st of August, 2019.

To avoid further misinformation that could create unnecessary tension, the Theatre Command wishes to state that the attack was targeted at Nigerian Army troops deployed in the areas to enable the terrorists gain access shops in the market in the towns to loot food items and other logistics. The attack was however repelled by the troops.

Consequently, due to fierce exchange of fire, the terrorists were forced to withdraw in disarray from the town resulting to damages on buildings and property along their route of withdrawal.

There were no casualty on the security force (troops) and no lost or damage to own equipment as wrongly insinuated on social media. However, a vigilante sadly lost his life in a cross fire. Also some civilians in the area reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries.

Peace has so far been restored in the communities with residents going about their lawful businesses.

The Nigerian Army once again call on all well meaning members of the public to collaborate with the military and other security agencies in the area of sharing of information and suspicious movement of criminals in their communities to proactively deal with criminal activities .

OPERATION GREEN SWEEP 3: NAF DESTROYS TERRORISTS’ LOGISTICS BASE/ASSEMBLY AREA AT BULA BELLO IN BORNO STATE

Air strikes being conducted by the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE under Operation GREEN SWEEP 3 have continued to yield tangible results. The latest of these results is the destruction of a Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) Logistics Base/Assembly Area at Bula Bello on the fringes of the Sambisa Forest in Borno State. The operation was executed today, 22 August 2019, after Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions revealed that the settlement was being used by BHT elements as a staging area to launch attacks against own troops.

Consequently, the ATF dispatched 2 Alpha Jets and an Mi-35M helicopter to attack the identified buildings within the settlement. Overhead the target area, several BHT fighters were seen within the settlement. The 2 Alpha Jets therefore took turns attacking the target area, scoring direct hits on the desired points of impact. The structures were damaged by the strikes while several of the terrorists were neutralized. The few surviving fighters were taken out in follow-on strikes by the MI-35M attack helicopter.

The NAF, operating in concert with surface forces, will sustain its operations against the terrorists in the Northeast.

Seems BH/ISWAP is really after Borno North, out of 10 local government areas, only Monguno has any coherent military presence, the rest have been deserted. Places like Abadam,Marte,Kukawa and so on have zero military presence and little civilian presence. Infact, even Borno South isn't safe(look at Bama). To the extent that in some places, residents have to pay taxes to BH, according to reports.

Something drastic needs to be done. It all boils down to the Lake Chad corridor where these people ferry smuggled weapons through; if what it would take to stop this catastrophic flow of ammunitions is an all out invasion of Chad and annexation of the Hadjer lamis-massakory region, I think we should start considering it.

This is getting serious, we need to restrategize and like Ugo said, increase the quota for recruits. We desperately need to control that Lake Chad region, beef up intelligence, and avoid incessant losses of arms to these people. From what I have observed so far from reports and all, it seems these BH guys are well versed in the art of ambushes; they will send a contingent to attack a military base and while the attack is ongoing, another contingent is lying in wait fo the inevitable back-up to come to the aid of the distressed soldiers(maybe from a neighboring military formation), they then proceed to bombard the rescue team, loot arms, kill soldiers and join their colleagues in finishing off the soldiers at the base. They have been employing this unholy tactic for a while now. To imagine that some people are still dreaming of those disgraceful crop-dusters that aren't landing until 2022.

If they completely overrun Born North and Borno Central(which they are about to succeed in doing), stealing our weapons and getting huge reinforcement of arms through the LC corridor, then a major offensive to capture Maiduguri is inevitable.

Baba Buratai needs to be sacked abeg, clearly, the man has lost initiative. Is this how all our gallant men will die finish at the hands of BH?. Not long ago, we lost so many soldiers in one fell swoop that the entire theatre command of Operations Lafiya Dole had to be restructured.

I fully support this.

Also, there is urgent need to starve BH/ISWAP of weapons flow through the Lake Chad axis. Apart from the weapons they steal from us, they actually get huge reinforcement of arms through that area and it needs to stop, or else the war will never be won.

If it is possible diverting a river to flood that place and wipe them out from their hideouts, or poison the entire waterways, or have a serious agreement with Chad to setup a joint anti-proliferation force based on the existing MNJTF, or even invade Chad itself if nothing is working, anything to control that region. angry

We have lost almost the entire Borno North, and half of Borno Central. Imagine the shock if we wake up one morning to see Shekau or Mamman Nur on the news, reading the victory speech from inside the Borno state government house.

They should level every structure in any town or village with less than 5,000 people for example how on earth does anyone expect these tiny towns that dotted this area protected? This is how troops are stretched thin, remove the civilians and level everything, let them live in more centralized areas that can be protected, it's war and it will be hard, but if they want safety, then the Govt should consider an evacuation.
This whole fire brigade thing is annoying.
Tomara is on fire, troops run there, arura ( made up towns lol) is on fire, they run there, but by the time they get there, the enemy would be gone and the damage is done

Why will BHT waste logistics smuggling weapons through the Chadian corridor when they can walk into any base to get anything they want?

what we need are chinook ch47s, about 30 of them, with a stand by armed helicopter escort about 20 of them (mi35)and those super tucano(, they are really valuable).....all tasked towards quick reaction and as blocking force, leapfrogging around bht.....but if they do this, how would the policymakers get money to loot?
