Yes.. It was first dug back in the 13the century as large holes before they gradually turned into canals

sey we like taking pictures of this village surrounded by water that look like a place u would like to go for site seeing ?so many villages surrounded by water in Nigeria are polluted with dirt and human waste all over the place .it so appalling that one cannot even graces such place without disgust.It is not a pretty site to behold, not to talk of visiting .yet the inhabitants of that polluted places sees nothing bad in it.

u destroyed ur own environment ur self .abi na dem dey help u pollute ur own environment??everyday while going to work I see men pooing in open space at different location in Lagos.some on water close to their house built on that same water..abi na the pure water ,food disposables, plastic water cans that is littered everywhere.Na oyinbo teach u to do am like that??dem no teach us personal hygiene which we threw away for our barbaric ways.? una like better thing but we are not ready to clean after ourselves.we are all waiting for government to come and clean in front of our house too despite the fact that they are even guilty for not cleaning our street .
