Sizzorkay:how is it a dream, we can get chinooks if we want, we can order more mi35m, pending the arrival we can lease from from Russia.....I'm sure with the right diplomacy, we can get a couple of super tucanos within 6 months, its not f22 , it's a turbo prop, we can end this war if we want to, a lot of people are just becoming rich from it, and Buhari is using it, to keep the generals busy, i think he still has a phobia for coup. |

JUST IN: NAF AIRLIFTS REFUGEES FROM CAMEROON TO NIGERIA The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has airlifted back to the Country no fewer than 135 Nigerians who took refuge in neighbouring Cameroon. The returnees were airlifted today, 22 August 2019, by a NAF C-130H aircraft from the Maroua Salak International Airport in Cameroon’s Northern Region to Yola International Airport, in furtherance of the NAF’s constitutional role of providing Military Aid to Civil Authority. The NAF also provided airlift for Nigeria’s Technical Working Group (TWG) for the "Repatriation of Nigerian Refugees in Cameroon” led by the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, who oversaw the commencement of the return process. The NAF aircrew, alongside the TWG, received the refugees from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and Cameroonian Government Officials.

jpphilips:Because despite the amount of arms they capture from us, they end up losing 60%-70% of it to aerial bombardments. So in operational terms, it is not just the weapons they steal from the military that is sustaining them. It's all a strategy. Stealing the weapons and forcing the Airforce to locate and destroy them is a ploy to not only beef up their own armoury, but also deprive the army of critical arms and dampen the morale of soldiers. The Elbarnawi faction receives a lot of weapons through that LC corridor from it's Libyan and Malian allies. These people actually travel out of the country through that route to negotiate arms deals with allies, smugglers and black market profiteers. |

Toju200:You see, corrupt despotic regimes such as Chad and Cameroon naturally only care about their own pockets, this war is generating billions of dollars in financial and military aid to those countries (even to Nigeria), therefore, it is a matter of expediency. Some countries and individuals don't want to end the war soon due to pernicious interests, after all, the direct effect to them is minimal. As for the west, they only care about containing the spread of this conflict within the Borno-LC axis. Nobody will help us until we help ourselves. |

YOU HAVE DONE WELL – COMMANDANT NDA TELLS DG DICON The Commandant Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General Adeniyi Oyebade, has lauded the efforts of the Director-General Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), Major General Victor Ezugwu, for his sincere Commitment to repositioning the premier industry to an enviable height in line with the vision of the founding fathers. He made the remark when the DG DICON paid him a courtesy visit at the permanent site of NDA Kaduna. Harping on the onerous task of making Nigerian project work, the Commandant stated that, the clarion call to give the best to the nation was a project everyone could contribute meaningfully for the development of the nation, stressing that the nation was in dire need of such contributions. According to him, the military stands for the defense of the unity of the nation despite the current challenges facing the nation and it must be seen upholding this role at all times. He further stated that the NDA under his leadership was inculcating the values and ethos of national unity in the cadet since they were the future leaders of the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The Commandant who also noted that the Engineering Cadets were making the nation proud especially in research and development, disclosed that there were quite a number of prototype research products they hoped to exhibit during the 2019 passing out parade. He commended DICON under the leadership of General Ezugwu for producing vehicles and ballistic materials in the theater of operations across the nation, particularly the North East. The Commandant NDA also said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai has made some giant strides in the area of production of combat vehicles for the Nigerian Army with 70 percent local content stressing that his efforts were worthy of commendation by all well-meaning Nigerians. ‘Nigeria has a huge market but we want to dominate the West African market in the nearest future if we continue with this tempo,’ he said. He called for robust synergy between DICON and NDA especially in the area of research and development, adding that the grant received by NDA might be spread for the benefit of DICON Research and Development Centre in their collaborative efforts. Earlier, the DG DICON, Maj. Gen Ezugwu said he paid the courtesy visit with the aim of leveraging on NDA’s support in the fabrication of military products for the nation’s Armed Forces with special emphasis on the Faculty of Engineering. He noted that he was impressed by the technological breakthrough of one of the cadets who researched and produced a prototype drone; He, therefore, pledged to sponsor an award of N250,000.00 Naira for the best graduating cadet in R & D with a view to encouraging innovative Science and Technology. ‘Science and Technology are research-driven and it should dovetail into mass production hence DICON will be quite interested to promote these.’ The DG who further described NDA as a symbol of the Nigerian Armed Forces said it would always be one of the major end-users of DICON products, especially the ones needed for training, therefore DICON would ensure high equality. He stressed that he would not supply what will be below the Commandant’s standard. He expressed appreciation to the Commandant for being his good mentor right from his cadetship training period in NDA till date. He further disclosed that DICON in partnership with Command Engineering Depot would be rolling out about 20 different combat vehicles produced locally, stressing that he would use local content to achieve DICON’s mandate. |

EVarn:You have really analysed the reality of the Lake Chad Basin so well. Are you a military personnel? Funny enough i travel from Monguno to Maiduguri every weekend by road just to cool off. The risk ain't easy but wetin poor man go do |

SamuelAnyawu:I am not a military personnel (though I do believe I will throw my hat in the ring with this ongoing recruitment exercise). But I have a number of acquittances in the military that feed me vague reports of what is going on, combined with what we read and watch in the news everyday, you just need to seive all the information to get the rough picture. I advice you not to take such risks o...at least, not too frequently. Anyway, something must kill a man. I just hope we get our act together and be serious about winning this war soon. Everyone is tired, including us far away in the south. |

| Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by GabrielYulaw(m): 9:07pm On Aug 23, 2019 |
jpphilips:He has a valid point though. Using Chinooks mean that the military can move men and material around far more rapidly than Boko Haram can react. With helicopters like that we can finally go on the offensive, rather than sitting around waiting to be attacked. In that, his suggestion makes sense, just like the Americans used Hueys to such good effect during the Vietnam war. Even if the US won't sell us Chinooks, we can buy the rough equivalent -perhaps the Mil M-26- from the Russians and Chinese. |

BH attrition in Adamawa and Yobe seems to have dipped in recent times and focus seems to have fully shifted to Bornu. This must be ISWAP strategy. If so, then the military should be able to exploit this and attack from these flanks. That way, ISWAP will be forced to commit men and resources in more fronts in the NE. I doubt if it will be able to sustain such for long. Except if of course, the case is that ISWAP can hold its own in these other axis against the military |
