Sowore To Remain In DSS Custody, Court Rules by LegendVibes: 12:33pm On Aug 28, 2019
The Federal High Court in Abuja has turned down the motioned filed by Omoyele Sowore who happens to be the convenor of #RevolutionNow, disputing his 45 days detention by the Department of State Security (DSS).

Justice Nkeonye Maya forwarded the case back to Justice Taiwo for further hearing on Wednesday after denying all the applications.

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, filed the applications on behalf of his client, Mr Sowore.

Falana, who had asked the court to set aside the ex-parte order granted by Justice Taiwo, also applied for bail orally when Justice Maha rejected the earlier application.

Sowore has been in the custody of the DSS since August 2.

Justice Taiwo had on August 8 ordered his detention for 45 days at the instance of the DSS to enable the secret police carry out and conclude its investigation on allegations levied against him.

I used to dislike Sowore because of his numerous lies about the opposition and his support for the lifeless Buhari but I'm beginning to have a rethink. I admire his boldness in planning the #RevolutionNow Protest knowing fully well he would be arrested by the tyrant he once supported.

When we truely reclaim our country from the current vultures, even this useless Justice Evelyn Maha and her likes will be buried alive

A particular tribe made mockery of Nnamdi Kanu when he was in detention of being fed with watery beans, Kanu people never abandon him even when we were made to believe that his people are not United. I believe Sowore is being fed with yam and egg sauce and that's why his United people abandoned him to enjoy in detention.

You people and your obsession with comparing yourselves to the Yorubas. We don't follow others blindly. We hold individuals accountable for their actions and reject them if we believe they have done Wrong. That is the Omoluabi ethos and that is what has made the Yorubas, who can go out and face the Army and security forces to march for GEJ, turn their back on Sowore.

You Igbos, on the other hand, have nothing like our Omoluabi ethos in your culture. You support, glorify and reward wrongdoing. You are comfortable with criminal behaviour. This is why you all support Kanu blindly. If Kanu were Yoruba he would be a pathetic and lonely figure we would ignore. Sowore is trending on your lips but in showing the Yorubas are consistent in thinking and action, the world can see that the likes of Adeyinka Grandson, Deji Adeyanju and other Yoruba radicals are shunned. When Yorubas emerge who are the real deal (eg Awolowo, Fela, Fawehinmi, Soyinka et al) then they are supported and exalted. We are not Igbos to casually queue behind any common scammer, crook or self-serving opportunist.

If not that Igbos love criminality and glorify in it, can you deny Kanu flouted his bail conditions openly and disdainfully thereby showing a disregard for the law. Yet you lot continue to follow and praise him blindly. Sowore meanwhile has not even been convicted of anything but the Yorubas have ideology distanced themselves from him because they know a fraud when they see one. He hypocritically wants to " run with the Hares and hunt with the Hounds and Yoruba understand he cannot be both. I.e politician and Revolutionary at the same time.
Which rubbish Yoruba ethics

How many Igbos for example, have the core decency to agree Buhari had the right to send Python twerk against Kanu because the IPOB leader directly contributed to that order from our President with the flouting of the strict bail condition he promised to abide by? Was Kanu not told to desist from gathering in a crowd and inciting them? What was Kanu doing over the SE after he was bailed other than taunting the FG with conduct his bail condition strictly prohibited him from engaging in?

Today you only talk of the 'tyranny' of Python twerk without ever admitting Kanu caused that reaction with his troublemaking and criminal conduct. Is this not how you Igbos play victim over the civil war and leave out the part about your actions that 100% led to it? This is what shames you Igbos. You don't accept that actions have consequences and you are largely lawbreakers most times who want others to join you pretending you were not in the wrong and that you did not act in ways that directly caused the negative reactions that fell on your head.

You Igbos are just shameless and I back Nigerian leaders giving you Biafra because a great nation cannot be built with people who, regardless of their talent/ability, have no respect for the law and are not concerned about right or wrong. Those type of people, i.e Igbos, will always, to the detriment of societal development, accept what they want and reject what they dislike regardless of the position of the law that makes it clear what we all can do and must not do. In short Igbos are lawless by nature and no nation can achieve greatness with lawless people. Igbos will shout worldwide Buhari is a 'tyrant' over Python twerk yet how many admit the wrongdoing of Kanu, highlighted below, that led to Python dancing in Abia? This is why Igbos are not taken seriously today. Give them Biafra so they can continue their lawlessness in it. That is my opinion.

On April 25, 2017, presiding Judge Binta Nyako granted Kanu bail with stringent conditions to boot.

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was told not to grant interviews, hold rallies or conduct affairs in a crowd of no more than ten persons.

Weeks after his application was granted, Kanu made sure to flout all his bail conditions.

He held rallies, set up a private army, spewed hate speeches at gatherings and incited violence when he could.

His incendiary rhetoric would culminate in bloody clashes between members of his IPOB and soldiers in September.

Disappearing act

On September 14, 2017, after soldiers invaded Kanu’s residence in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the separatist agitator disappeared into thin air.

There have been reports that he’s fled to the UK where he retains the status of a citizen.

His lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, denies the claim, however, saying Kanu is being held by the federal government.

Nigeria likes to focus on stupid things. Let Sowore go. Go and face the issues of bandits and the rest plaguing the country. You are only making him a rallying figure and this decision of keeping him unlawfully detained will just garner sympathy. Which may come back to bite this government hard.

Explain how he is "unlawfully detained" and don't just repeat such because everyone is saying it and it is trending. A competent law court affirms that the DSS can, because of his own actions and utterances, detain Sowore and investigate him as a security threat to Nigeria so why are people like you advocating for lawlessness to reign in Nigeria? Even the Western Nations you worship don't take national security lightly and Kanu would never have smelled bail there.

America locks up and supposedly torture people at Guantanamo bay for years without trial, charge, bail or access to legal representation or their family. They do this hiding behind "national security" and this is okay with you guys.

Britain strip a young and disillusioned teenager of her citizenship so she is now stranded abroad and can never re-enter the land she was born in (the UK) which is the only one she has known her entire life. All this justified with protecting "national security". Yet Nigerians like you will praise the UK and attack "tyrant" Buhari. Others are taking such drastic steps and genuinely abusing human rights yet you people cannot even give us peace because the DSS, rightly, want to detain, question and investigate Sowore to see if he is a genuine threat to National security. Only God can save Nigeria.

There are so many groups threatening the sovereignty of western nations and they have never been prosecuted except when they take up violent struggles. Everyone has the right to freedom of speech and association. They also have the right to protest. The government is unlawfully detaining Sowore because he is within his rights. He has not carried out any violent acts so he should be released. This government is constantly pardoning Boko Haram members who have killed Nigerians after a very short term of detention. Are you a clown? Why is Sowore’s case more important and why exactly is he being detained?
