1GB a week sub, last just three days on my phone, no download no video streaming

Really?...#1st seemingly good news from this redundant govt.


Service providers are core criminals! Especially airtel/mtn,

they steal my data with reckless abandon!

What did you expect with the this 4G of a thing? Many Nigerians don't really track their data usage. Facebook and YouTube alone are enough to drain one's data. I do track my mtn data usage and I can confidently say that there is no cheating or sapping of my data. If I have 4gb of data, it would give me at least 3.9gb of downloaded files

Minister of Communications, Dr Isa Ali-Pantami, on Thursday, charged the Management of Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, to investigate complaints by Nigerians about illegal data deduction by service providers.

Dr. Pantami, who spoke while being briefed by the Executive Chairman of the NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, in his office, said culpable companies should be sanctioned.

“I will push all Chief Executive Officers of agencies under the ministry to deliver effective and efficient service to Nigerians in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s Directives,” Mr Pantami stressed.

He pointed out that all Chief Executive Officers under the ministry would be giving a Key Performance Indicator, KPI, time to time.

The minister said: “Under my supervision, there will be monthly meetings to track Key Performance Indicators, KPI.

“I assure you, everyone will be treated objectively, and we are here to support you to deliver your Mandate.”

BEFORE NOW, I LOAD 10GB DATA, I USED MAX 6GB FOR A MONTH WITH CONTINUOUS USAGE AND YOU TUBE ,

NOW MY 10GB CANT EVEN LAST COMFORTABLY FOR 2 WEEKS

TOO ANNOYING

In Nigeria everything is a fraud. From the government itself to private companies like these telcos. Even the citizens are not left out.

Your own is good. I always do 15GB twice a month now! No download, nothing. Yes I'm a web developer and I use alot of data surfing the net but how on earth did I use 30gb monthly!

We hustle on a daily but all these fOreign and indigenous telecomms that we have in Nigeria do extort our money in the name of selling data to us.

in as much as I don't like these network providers,do people actually realise how data consuming apps are? apps like YouTube,browsers,WhatsApp story, Instagram,Google etc can consume huge data on a minute

In india, you pay N1000 for one month and you will enjoy 1.5gb data everyday, unlimited calls to all local number, 100 free SMS for the same month. Same airtel network we have in nigeria but refuse to provide the same service.

This is what you get when you have analog thinker running a digital economy

It is high time this gross injustice is addressed. Many Nigerians, including myself, have been paying for the data which were never used.
I would load some GB of data, and without doing anything on the net, the whole data would get exhausted.
MTN and Airtel most culpable.

MTN will tell you your data is finished as in 2GB is finished in 2 days just because you wanted to see a 10minutes video.

Nigeria should as a matter of fact put structures in place to make this available for free for Nigerians with our money in years ahead.This inhuman and greedy services provider should make this available and new service providers emerging to compete the exiting ones.

Your observation is true, but I observe that this draining of data takes place even if I am not opening any app nor browsing anything, simply once data is switched on.

This is why Nigerians don't watch movies online or download it... Why we can't used n enjoy smart TV.... Data here is too expensive you can even spend the entire new minimum wage on data.

Stop watching youtube in 720p or 360 p. They consume data, like a 5 min video in 720p takes up to 40mb, but setting it on 144p takes like 1.5 mb.
