The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly has disclosed that the former Governor of the State, Ayo Fayose’s ambush on the House of Assembly complex was resisted because he came unannounced.

The Speaker in a press release signed by his Special Adviser, Akogun Tai Oguntayo, disclosed that after the resolution of the House of Assembly at the plenary yesterday inviting the former Governor to appear before the House, he called the Speaker to confirm if the report was true. The Speaker confirmed to Mr Fayose’s it was true and that was the end of the discussion.

The statement further disclosed that after Fayose’s phone call, the Speaker intimated two of the lawmakers of his conversation with the erstwhile governor.

”Just as the Speaker was settling down in his office this afternoon, Mr. Fayose stormed his office with a retinue of pressmen led by his former media aide, Mr Lere Olayinka, who was equally wanted on another alleged fund stealing. The Speaker who was accompanied to his office by two other lawmakers immediately stopped the journalists from entering his office and warned Mr Olayinka against writing any fake report as it’s usual of him.

When Mr Fayose announced his readiness to the Speaker, he was told to go back and await the official invitation letter from the House of Assembly.

Rt Hon Afuye, however, stated that the former Governor was accorded his due compliment on arrival at the House of Assembly ”being a former No1 citizen of the State”. He then reiterated that the House cannot be harassed or intimidated by anyone ”as we are poised to investigate the alleged looting of public fund without any fear or favour”

Basically they were not expecting Fayose to come after that statement he released earlier.

Fayose is a smart thief unfortunately those who want to catch him are dullards hence he was asked to go home.

Anyone who isn't partisan knows Fayose is a thief but a smart one.

Fayose is a thug and a joke, I don't know why his disregard for institutions always seem exciting to some people, is this how a civilized person should behave, barge into offices when you haven't been formally invited.

Why can't he wait for the official invitation from the house of assembly. If a house resolve to invite a person for questioning, what shoud follow suit is a letter of invitation which is expected to be honoured.

Well said.
Besides why he may have sympathy is that those accusing him and even the present occupant of the seat in Ekiti state are as corrupt as Fayose is,just who has the opportunity at every point in time.

Here we go again, this usual attempt to always justify what is wrong by lame comparisons is my problem with an average Nigerian, and you can always tell by the amount of ignorance these certain people exude, please kindly list the court orders that are not being appealed or still in litigation that Buhari has disregarded.

Civility and respect in expression unlike the Igbos that takes excitement in huliganism and terrorism everywhere to disgrace their leaders in an attempt to express their grievance against failed leadership ambushing and beating up their leaders. The height of their stupidity is to be giving order to disgrace and arrest the president of the country and the funny thing about this is that you see them on social media defending their animalistic acts.

Fayose should have waited for his official invitation to come and clearify and defend the allegation against him if what the speaker said is true.
It is not the speaker as a person that will ask him questions but a committe.
I bet u that Fayose would not show up again to face the committee. he should go back on invitation
