Hello Phone Gurus. Today I went to Mchris to get a phone. after purchase, the engineers there told me that they need to do system update. I was like system update on top new phone? They said when they do it, the phone will now have menu and it will be updated. I checked the phone, there was actually no menu. then I told them that Android do notify users of system update, that I can download and install (OTA system update) they said that that one I'm talking about use to spoil phone. So I gave them, and they did it. True true, when they were done the phone now had menu. Now I'm confused. I peeped at their laptop and the software they were running was W6001. The phone is itel p33 plus Can anyone please tell me which/what update they actually did? Also the normal update that Android use to say we should do, does it truly spoil phone? |

Probably there was no OS on the phone or not fully install therefore making the phone to be cheap, secondly the OTA update may likely damage the phone because probably the phone in question has no rights to google software and I doubt if it has play store. 4 Likes |

ncpat: The phone has Android 8.1 OS. I checked everything. it has playstore and nothing seem wrong with it before they worked on it. only the menu I mentioned earlier. |

These system updates are completely rubbish. I upgraded my phone on Wednesday night only to wake up to find out that my phone has entered one chance omg, felt so bad but a guy later fixed it for me The problem now is that after the fixing, my phone is now having issues like finger print problem, slow performance and all that, will be returning back to tecno next month as part of the 12+1year warranty. Bro.. If your phone had playstore, then what 'menu' are you talking about again? Playstore, like Settings and every other app is found on the menu. Except if what was done for you was to simply add an app drawer widget to your homescreen, which you could have easily done yourself. 2 Likes |

WebBox: Those guys are big thiefs, anyways there is a popular warri slang that says " mugu fall guy man wak " they just installed a launcher like nova launcher; because most of these new Android phones do come with launchers that don't have the menu button rather you have to scroll upward to get your apps. 6 Likes |

Since I updated my Samsung to the latest OS, I noticed that the fone became response slow, takes longer time to process data and incoming and outgoing calls takes frustrating time before appearing on the screen even when the call is already in its 4-5th ring. I'm currently looking for a replacement fone which the developers really aim at doing. Make u slowly get frustrated with the fone then you go and buy the latest. sadly for them, I am porting to iPhone. IPhone sef was recently sued for releasing updates that slows down old fones so users will get frustrated and buy the flagship. So sadly for me lol, which ever place I pitch my tent, all na scam! So I agree thatsoms OTA indeed spoils fones especially when the fone is not a flagship or immediate ex flagship. |
