The Lagos State Police Command has released the 123 men who were intercepted in a truck with 48 bikes by Lagos State Environment Sanitation and Special Offenses Taskforce.

According to the Lagos State Environment Sanitation and Special Offenses Taskforce, the men were coming from Jigawa State.

The truck was seized at Agege area of the state following a tip-off by members of the public who raised security concern about the manner with which the occupants of the truck conducted themselves.

Leakers.ng learnt that after the interception, the truck and its occupants were moved to the office of the taskforce in Oshodi for interrogation.

After the interception, the truck and its occupants were moved to the office of the taskforce in Oshodi for interrogation.

According to the chairman of Lagos State Taskforce, Yinka Egbeyemi, some of the men said they came to Lagos in search of greener pastures.

Egbeyemi said that the Lagos Police Command had directed that a fact-finding panel be constituted to profile the detained occupants of the truck, but he added that nothing incriminating was found on them apart from the motorcycles.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Ikhana, who spoke with Daily Trust after their release said after profiling of the men, nothing incriminating was found on them.

He said the suspicion and subsequent interception of the truck arose from the manner they came in, in large number sardined in a truck.

Former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Joe Abah, in a tweet on Saturday, criticised Lagos authorities over the interception.

Well, so far they have been properly profiled and nothing incriminating is found or linked to them, they haven't really committed any crime and as such should be released.

This is another sad reality of the poverty that pervades our land.

Lol

Hausas have overtaken bike business in lagos.

Every street in lagos has at least 20 hausa bike men plying the street knowing who is who and who lives where and what time anyone in that street leaves and return from work, as well as the kids and wives of every household

Should miyati Allah give an executive order today those guys would overrun lagos in 24 hours.

The poverty in the North is disturbing!! The government must wake up to its responsibilities. Poverty/economic hardship is a root cause of insecurity

Even seeing a Taxi filled up with only able bodied young men or a bus filled up with only able bodied young men will attract police scrutiny. If it's a check point on the high way the bus or taxi may be packed and searched. It's normal. It's being security conscious.
Now you have 123 able bodied young men inside a trailer meant to carry only goods. Plus dozens of bikes which many may not even have complete registration and insurance papers. Natural instincts determines that they should be packed an interrogated. But should be set free immediately it's confirmed they have no robbery or terrorist link.
In the same way a bus or trailer filled with only young girl should also be parked and investigated for any human trafficking link.
Prevention is better than cure. But this should be done in an orderly and decent manner.

Another increase in the number of our brothers from the North who have taken over the Lekki/Ajah axis... I just hope they are here for the greener pastures as they claim.

Since Lagos state govt is not willing to learn from Middle Belt states where terrorist are shipped to reign havoc in the region, they should get ready for terrorist attacks in the state.

So Lagos is now the Europe of Nigeria that people of the north can now come to in search of greener pasture. No wonder Lagos is overpopulated. The abokis even came with their bikes for okada business. So Lagos is now the Europe of Nigeria that people of the north can now come to in search of greener pasture. North will never support regional or state policing. We will so limit their movement down south. Y'all will raise animals as human beings and expect us down south to accommodate them. Oya na grin
