Now this is massive.

But I don't know why I'm always of the opinion that the use of solar panels for electricity is the most expensive renewable energy generation.

Apart from the cost of the solar panels and its accessories, which is much on the high side as compared to the output power, just look at the area it occupies? Forget all the ish that it won't be fueled bla bla bla, those panels are not rugged.

To me, wind mill is the cheapest renewable energy source. My opinion though.
Are you a minister of Darkness No light you will complain now solar power you complain of the expressiveness oga are you the one funding it my opinion though.

When you have the money to buy Solar inverter, that is when you begin to appreciate every ray of sunlight.

Wind mill is the best but our importers won't bring it cos it's relatively cheaper.

The lies here are too much
First University of nigeria ,nsukka (UNN) has the largest admission capacity and thats just less than 6000 students per year, so thats less than 30,000 students ...so there is absolutely no how BUK can have 20,000 students

7.1MW is just 7100 KVA (approx) and that's for say 23500 people thats like 0.3kva per person which is absolutely no enough

When u tell lies like this ,i know only 2.5% of nigerians are educated but please lie with sense

Mr. Know all, BUK matriculates more than 8000 undergraduate per year, the number quoted is very correct, Google can help you or you can help to correct it in Google. BUK , and above every professor of knowledge, there is one who is more knowledgeable

Did u read the news ?

Yes i did, my point is the power claimed to be generated will be enough for the said university campus. The reason is because only about 30 percent of the university community will depend fully on the power supplied as more than half of the student and staff population will reside outside the campus

the solar energy is kinda hyped, apart from cost it also have the problem of night. only solution to that being batteries. but how many batteries could possibly power a state.

Locational characteristics.....
Wind will even take more than that space.....
Wind is quite expensive too....

Kudos to the FG......all the same.

wind turbines can better be spread out even on walkways. it's expensive but less expensive than solar

But solar attracts at least 4 more times the number of energy wind can.

You are also talking about Mechanical parts, depreciation costs, etc.

Moreover, you never will compare space.

Wind is cool....but solar for residential homes is best.

Classrooms don't consume much. Four fans and six bulbs. Then some sockets for charging and projector

it depends on location,
just like u said, for a small residential area, solar is best but if u are planning on massive utility u definitely prefer a windfarm.
talking about mechanical parts, the turbines don't depreciate that much. the biggest problem with windmills is the noise. it sounds like a moving mower, while solar is noiseless.

Jeez! 23,500 people won't use power at the same freeking time. I just can't imagine how you guys think.
23,500 people are not living in BUK in 23,500 different houses.
Neither are there 23,500 sockets that all duke and harry will plug in their appliances concurrently for you to arrive at such conclusions. Na wa!

He wasn't trying to make sense in the first place, people like him are anti FG, they criticize FG actions or any progress in Nigeria regardless of how ignorant they sound with their criticisms.

Do you really need that in a Univ environment?

Wind farm, fine......Kenya just commissioned the largest in Africa., but not a school environment.

Moreover, we are getting into FIT systems....we will appreciate it much when we get there. We need all of them though, when the time comes.

Kudos to the FG....

Wind mills are not reliable because wind power varies according to atmospheric conditions. With solar panels, You get more reliable output especially with our tropical climate.

...Oga same applies to wind ,FYI , Scotland remains the highest producer of wind banks in the world ,try check the amount of area of land that was gone into production, and again ,what about the instability of constant wind availability??...
