John Mahama Reacts To Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa by Abuharib(op): 5:44am On Sep 04, 2019
The former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama had condemned the xenophobic attack against Africans in South Africa.

Mahama, in an interview lamented that the ugly incident is really most regretable and most unfortunate.

He lamented that the whole of African stood behind South African to fight against apathy. He retold the story of how they went on marches, demonstrated and boycott classes all in the fight against apathy when he was growing up as a secondary school student then.

The former president opined that most of the young South African did not know what happened before they gained their freedom.

He lamented that most of the countries where their citizens have been brutalized in South Africa, they are the countries that haboured the freedom fighters of South Africa, claiming that these countries stood with South Africa, gave them passport and safe haven before they gained their freedom.

"It is most regretable and most unfortunate. I think that the young people of South Africa do not know what happened before they gained their freedom .
The whole of this continent stood behind South African. The whole of African stood behind South African to fight against apathy, the former president said.

"I remember all of this. Growing up a secondary school children; we went on marches, we were part of the African youth command, we demonstrated, we boycotted classes and all that all in the fight against apathy.

"Indeed for several of the countries where their citizens have been brutalized in South Africa, these are countries that were called frontline states that haboured the freedom fighters of South Africa and gave them safe haven", he added.

Re: John Mahama Reacts To Xenophobic Attacks In South Africa by ValCon888:
These South Africans have amnesia. They forget that without Nigerian backing apartheid will still be in existence today.

They forget how Nigeria singlehandedly backed the ANC when it was seen as a 'terrorist movement' rather than the great political party it is today.

They forget the role of Nigeria in the assembly of the United Democratic Front (UDF). Who do they think bankrolled these movements?

The impact of Archie Gumede, Oscar Mpatha, Albertina Sisulu and Nelson Mandela in the struggle against apartheid will have been in vain without Nigerian support.

South Africans have made it loud and clear that they do not want black foreigners in their country. Over the years ,attacks like this have continued unabeited , there has been meetings upon meetings, summons upon summons yet these attacks get worse every time. All diplomatic avenues have been exhausted in these meetings over the years ,its time to try something else.
