Wow!
This is highly commendable coming from Nigeria police.
It looks like a scene from The Investigation Network Show on cable.
We are now talking about crime scene and forensic expert in our darling nation?

Yes, slow and steady we will get to a New and better Nigeria.
This is the change we voted for.

God bless Nigeria.
Amen and amen.

How can you even remember all of these after the incidence... In an environment where u will be stigmatized for voicing out after a rape...who runs to police immediately after a rape? .. To every lady that is courageous enough to report a genuine rape incidence , you are strong and you can only be better...
Mr MBA also had a useful answer to the concert s you raised about stigmatization. See it here.

Exactly. Someone raped will feel so dirty, they want to wash every remembrance of the rapist off them. It's easier said than done in reality and the Police should change their officer's orientation in addressing rape cases.

Your thinking is too poor. Are you also a student of basket mouth?
Think about the bruises and the post traumatic effects of rape.. And going about to be smelling their bodies for juicy odor like a bini egalitarian witches that turns into a dog at night to relish the effluvium of rotten izobo at 5 junction every night... Funny isn't it?

They should resist the urge to wash out the evidence so that they can preserve evidence that'll be useful in court.

Advice rather should be why they shouldn't wash the rape cloths quickly.
So when they get rape they'll run to police station first b4 taking their bath?
He also said that in addition to not bathing immediately after.

This advice from the police is a very good advice however, if the man is extremely rich, don't bother because he'll compromise the police and the same police officers will destroy the evidence. The best thing is to seek compensation so you don't lose out on both sides.

Well, he tried to address it here. Do you think he did justice to the issue of effectively rising above stigma?

Police Spokesman Mr Frank MBA has advised rape victims to resist the urge to take their bath immediately after they are raped. According to him, doing so may destroy important evidence needed to convict the rapist. In a writeup by Mba, he advised:

"Preserve all physical evidence after rape. Do not take your bath or change the clothes you wore during the rape incident.

"This may destroy essential components of evidence necessary to establish your case and convict the rapist.

"Preserve all torn materials such as underwears, bras or other apparels. Similarly, all blood stained or seminal fluid-stained items should also be preserved.

"Personal items belonging to the suspects picked up from the scene should also be preserved. Where possible, the scene of rape also known as the scene of crime should be preserved to enable investigators review it in its uncontaminated form."

If the DNA evidence linking those that killed Funsho Williams was destroyed due to ' no light' to preserve it despite the pedigree and weight of his family, personality and status in the nation's democracy,if you like, become a tomb after rape, if the person get money pass you. Forget it. Who will bear the cost of a DNA test

It won't be that easy, so does he mean they should not take their bath for days until the case as been investigated, that won't work.

Many rapists have gone free because the evidence of rape wasn't preserved.

Lalasticlala I feel this should be moved to Front Page, to help rape victims. Many rape victims destroy or wash away the evidence and then come years later to make claims and many won't believe them by then.

Very stupid advice. This is only useful when armed robbers, kidnappers, random cultists or Fulani Herdsmen rape random unfortunate women.

It can never be useful when we're taking about a man and a woman who know each other well enough, and spent time together alone in an intimate setting, whereby the man is NOT denying that sex happened... But the only question is whether is was consensual or forced. How does not bathing or changing clothes or whatever nonsense answer the critical question of whether the sex was consensual or forced? ONLY AUDIO VISUAL EVIDENCE CAN ANSWER THAT!

God bless you too igbo defender.

You see whenever I read people's comment I'm not interested in knowing their moniker. However your own seems to be different. The question I ask myself most times is that how possible is it to predict a member's comment all the time amidst hundreds and thousands of Nairaland's members?
.
.
.
Is it that you're living a fake life or what? Why can I predict your moniker without even looking at your moniker?

Rape cases are the most difficult cases to prove in courts all over the world even in the US. That's why only few of them get justice. This advice from the police is a very good advice however, if the man is extremely rich, don't bother because he'll compromise the police and the same police officers will destroy the evidence. The best thing is to seek compensation so you don't lose out on both sides.

In developed countries... it is advisable to rape only if you will succeed not forgetting your DNA anywhere at the scene wink wink

But you will still pay mobilisation fee for police to come to crime scene. And you will buy everything needed for investigation and submit to daily private investigation and mockery by police.

The lady raped in the case in this link didn't take her bath, and it has helped her case.
