Club Brugge striker David Okereke and Orji Okwonkwo, who features for MLS club Montreal Impact, have been drafted for Tuesday’s U23 AFCON playoff return leg against Sudan in Asaba

Did you see Okereke or Orji when Imama released his list?

They are obviously reinforcements. Okereke played on the weekend. He could have made the game.
No but they both featured in the last match so something should tell you they were omitted for a reason

You realise that Azubuike and Frank Onyeka also played their weekend matches but were in the team.

So are you stating emphatically that this is the only possible reason a player misses a match. What if the players had something else to attend to and asked to be excused? Or if the players had knocks which needed time to heal.

I am saying, it looks more like reinforcements after the first leg loss as those names were not on Imama's list of 23.

These players were already part of the program. They both played in in both legs against Libya

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:31pm On Sep 06, 2019
They were only drafted at the aftermath of the first leg.

BascoVanVeli:
I don't know but Okereke and Orji will be joining the team in Asaba. Did Imama make them miss the match on purpose?

Parlour urges Abraham to stay with England

TalkSport pundit Ray Parlour feels Tammy Abraham should commit his international future to England amid attempts by Nigeria to lure the Chelsea striker away from the Three Lions.

The 21-year-old has represented England at various youth levels and earned two senior caps for his country in 2017. However, neither was a competitive international game, raising the possibility he could still play for Nigeria, the homeland of his father.

While Abraham was not called up by head coach Gareth Southgate for England’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo, Parlour has urged the youngster to stay patient.

‘If he keeps scoring goals, he will definitely get into the England squad,’ said the former Arsenal midfielder.

‘Jamie Vardy has retired and they’re lacking a little bit up front. He’s got an opportunity to be in the squad, but obviously he won’t be in front of Harry Kane.”

‘Once you start with a country as a youngster, I think you should stick with them,” Parlour added.

‘It’s up to the player; he’s looking at whether he’ll get an opportunity. It’s a battle, because there are a lot of good players at England, and you’ll get a lot more caps if you go elsewhere.

‘As a manager, you’d be on the phone straight away saying, “You’re in my plans, keep playing as you are, and you’ll get an opportunity”. That’s what I’d be doing if I was Gareth Southgate.
There is no need to beg Tammy. He will commit his future to England. That I am sure of. If southgate lik, let him snub the guy 100 times. That's one thing about Tammy I like, his tenacity and single mindedness

And that could be for many reasons. That is my point. You are I are not the coach so neither of us can equivocally say that we know the reason why they weren't

If any of you think a very physical Sudan will come to Naija and not sit back and close their defence like the great walk of China, then you must be in fairy tale land.

Libya isn't Sudan and our pitch here in Naija is equally bad, so no excuses. Me I predict a 1:1 draw.

And truth is even if we wanted them for the U-23s on the 10th, I don't know if Rohr will release Chuks, Awaizem, Uzoho and Osimhen. Both teams play same day.
The best Imama would have gotten would be Ozornwafor, Chidera Ejuke, Hillary Gong, plus some more but well... he's made his selections and I just choose to believe we will turn things around in the 2nd leg. I hope the midfield combo of Frank Onyeka and Azubuike Okechukwu be picked... and the picked wingers perform and feed Odey and Awo enough to finish off the Sudanese.
Rohr has already said he didn't invite certain players to let them play for the U23s. If I were Rohr, I'd tell Imama to get lost.
WE have a large and talented pool of U23s... Why must he need bailing out everytime?
