Joebie:So would you pick Dennis over Osimhen? The question should always be about him then we can go from there. He could have had only a certain number of foreign players to invite. The NFF would throw him under the bus if this was really his complete list. |

Zinchenko and Iarmolenko are stars of this Ukrainian team. They may be rested against us or may still get to feature off the bench.... or start and get subbed later. Earthquake1: |

This is England's Three Lions depth. I need same for my Super Eagles across all departments.... we are already achieving that in a few positions though.

Semi Ajayi and his West Brom teammates might be without Manager Slaven Bilic over the next few weeks after the Baggies Boss was shown a red card over in the Championship match against Derby. |

They are both dragging fourth choice and below.... Anything outside top 3 is up for grabs by any so it doesn't matter who you see placed ahead or not from position 4 down. Funnily even position 3 is still contestable in some positions. Only the top two generally are sure bankers. The rest below them are fighting to get a shot. Prectega: |

I hope you are not celebrating mediocrity here. I can' believe that our profile in the goalkeeping department has fallen to the extent that inviting a 4th-tier german goalkeeper is now a thing. I honestly think he should have kept Akpeyi in the squad. It's a relief though that the guy will not be starting. tbaba12345: |

benji93:Even in the best years, where were our keepers?? Enyeama was inthe Israeli league for years. Same with Ejide and Aiyenugba.Israeli league is not a very high level. Akpeyi is not better than Maduka, right now. That said. Maduka is not going to be number 1 now but from what i have seen, he has good fundamentals. When Cameroon won the nations cup in 2017, the first choice Ondoa was in Sevilla B side. And Cameroon is known for producing quality keepers. |

The bolded is the most important point. The foreign-born Nigerians should be drafted into the youth teams first, not straight to the senior team. That's sheer desperation. No matter how good a foreign-born is, they could easily be square pegs in round holes- The round hole being the Nigerian team. So they have to familiarize themselves with the Nigerian football culture first. We at home are aware of the different forms of drama that arise in our footballing atmosphere, those guys are probably aware too. Just look at the case of Tammy Abraham- He is still waiting for a call-up to the senior team, hence the wait till April 2020 bullshit, oh that's even about 2 months before Euro 2020 begins. The NFF needs to set standards. There are very few or no cases of players born overseas, but of African descent and played for the senior teams of their countries of birth without playing for their youth sides. We cannot allow these guys bleep us anyhow. Nigeria seems to be the last option for most of them. charlesemeka85: |

benji93:What exactly is Nigerian football culture?? Bribery and corruption?? If a player is good enough, eligible for Nigeria and willing to play, the he can be invited to the senior team. |

tbaba12345:Then why isn't he allowed to call Osimhen and Samu? That would have made things easier don't you think? Obviously he is working according to the nff and Rohr. |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by benji93: 9:11pm On Sep 07, 2019 |
Reasonable point, but he's in a 4th-tier team bros, Sevilla B was in the Segunda division when Ondoa played for them. But how can you convincingly argue that Maduka is better than Akpeyi when his team is placed 15th in the 4th-tier. That's blasphemous. tbaba12345: |
| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by benji93: 9:19pm On Sep 07, 2019 |
Truth be told, the bolded is part of the Nigerian culture at the moment , but that was not what I was referring to. Most of the Nigerian team usually consists of homegrown players. Unless you are not willing to admit it, they don't play like their foreign counterparts. They are brought up differently. I repeat inviting foreign-born players directly to the national team is a recipe for disaster. It might work out but 7 out of 10 times it won't.tbaba12345: |

BascoVanVeli:Osimhen and Samu are confirmed SE players. Are they the only U23 players around? Would Rohr have called up Bonaventure if Imama invited him to the U23? What stopped him from inviting Okereke, Nwakali, Ejuke and many other talented U23 players we have? Is it Rohr's job to unearth talented U23 players or the other way around? |
