I remembered in my primary six class, our teacher is very strict that we call her ''Mrs lie flat'' (you will lie flat on the ground before she will flog you) That woman flog thunder comot for my eyes and you will be dancing like Micheal Jackson grin

correctional measures includes caning suspension expulsion hard labour etc
my emphasy is on caning.

This project helps in national devt because it looks at what happens to students,the consequence of which has an influence on the economy also.

What someone goes through in life either as a student or not can affect his or her thinking which can also affect our economy at least indirectly.

Business minded thinking and focus in a society often make the economy go in the right direction.

Even caning can affect how you reason and think in your later life.

This is a psychological issues

When we were kids, boys were flogged on their palms, on their buttocks, behind their legs, etc. Girls on the other hand were only flogged on their palms.

As kids, we didn't see it as anything since the idea was to inflict pain and both genders got fair measures of the pain.

There was a gender based punishment back then for us. Girls where flogged only on the palm and not buttocks. This was because they (both students and teachers) don't want permanent scars on the buttocks; and also to prevent exposure since girls wear skirts. Whereas,male students were flocks both palm an buttocks.

Back is the most painful as I could recall follow by buttocks, then hands... Excessive Beating only makes pupil dumb due to fear... This mentality has to change.
I could remember vividly Mrs Awoniyi my primary 4 class teacher, may God forgive her for that Ill treatment. Very cruel.

Some girls are sexually stimulated when beaten on their buttocks, hence the need to flog older (SS students) on their palms as against their male colleagues.
Also, flogging a female student on the buttocks can't be seen as a form of sexual abuse by some hardcore feminist.
A female on her period can easily be stained if flogged on the buttocks.

Beating girls on the buttocks can sexually stimulate them.

When i was in uniuyo,i had a girlfriend called idorenyin who has very big buttocks.

I can count the number of times I was flogged in school, once in Basic 4 by the school head because Blessing my bestie told me about all the maltreatment her step mum who was also a teacher had been giving her. Mama said we were gossiping about her. I was flogged on the palm but she got hers on the buttocks.

Second time was in JSS 2, I was flogged on the back of my palm with the side of a wooden ruler because I couldn't solve a Maths equation, he earlier said "If I call you and you don't get it, I will flog you more than others" so I prepared my mind not to cry but that thing can pain sha. cry

Well, in school, we had this idea that flogging girls on the buttocks is dangerous because the womb is there, I don't know where we heard it sha but yes, it hurts more than the palms. Another thing is, flogging girls on the buttocks by male teachers can end up being sexualized.

All in all, serving punishments is better than using canes, IMO.

Where caning is allowed:

Males students are generally beaten on their buttocks and females students on the palms of their hands.

These are the laid down rules although there could be some exceptions like:beating of back,feet,legs

As a male student, how did it use to feel like when they beat your buttocks during your school days?

As female student,how does it feel like when your hands are beaten.

Please i need replies with revelant examples from your primary/sec school day.

Even in the school i am currently teaching,we beat the boys on the buttocks and girls on the hands or the back.

Even when i attended primary/secondary schools,any time we were late to school,

at the gate, they would beat me and my brothers and all boys on our buttocks.

My sisters and all girls would be caned on the hands.

Boys would rub their buttocks and girls would rub their hands.

If someone cried,it was usually a girl/girls that cried.

Boys agreed that no matter the pains during caning, they must not cry.

One boy told me that he would rather jumped up (while rubbing his buttocks ) than cry.

In my days,a male's buttocks would experience caning so much so that at a certain level in school(may be from ss1 to ss3), you can receive 24 strokes on the butt without moving your body.

You just lied down and they beat you 24 strokes and you stand up without rubbing your butt.

They called it shining of cane.
