benji93:As third choice, Maduka is fine as long as he keeps playing. That is it. He is young and will get better. Are you trying to say that Ondoa was the only player that could have replaced Onana? He was inexperienced and could not even get games for Sevilla B. We have a goalkeeping situation on our hands, let us see what this kid offers. |

edi287:How many foreign based players play for the French youth teams? Maybe we should play only home-based players so we can be exactly like them? If I say France used home players to win the world cup and so Nigeria should follow suit u would say I was insane for comparing Nigeria to a country like France but here u people shamelessly bring up what is going on over there like it is a map of what we should be doing. If we are running a no excuse policy then the coach should be equipped with the best possible options if not we should all hush up and judge the man for what his players do on the pitch and nothing else. Even messi has bad matches so it is very childish to cry about the players the coach selected simply because his team lost 1 nut. |

On the subject of Ondoa, my argument is it probably was. If you have an argument for a better choice at that time, present it. I will definitely reconsider your argument along those lines(note: at that time). You seem to think cos he's third choice so the call-up doesn't matter. But it does-If he doesn't deserve it, then he doesn't. You seem to have a thing for foreign-born. Admittedly , we have a goalkeeping situation. But on no account did Maduka deserve a call up over Akpeyi. i repeat on no account. You are yet to present convincing evidence to support your claim that he does. We are not all ignorant of fact-finding bro. I want facts. tbaba1234: |

Which seven? I beg ooo, what do you mean by core? And what do you understand by foreign-born? Which squad are we referring to? The squad from the last nations cup? During the knockout stages, at most three foreign-born/foreign-trained started. Iwobi, Ekong and Ola Aina-Ola Aina was even relegated to the bench at some point until, and only played the third-place because Awaziem was suspended for accumulation of yellow cards. Unless you mean number foreign-born/Foreign-based in the team. If you are referring to this current squad, all i got to say is we will have to wait and see. Plus only 5 of them are foreign-born/Foreign-trained(All their lives). We don't even know what team he will be fielding. This is not a definition of it's "worked out" bro. Earthquake1: |

It is disgraceful and dishearting to see few elements in this thread working so hard to bring division to current super eagles set up by labeling kids who has fundamental human rights as foreign born just because they were born and groomed abroad. This nonsense should stop! This kids re equally Nigerians and I will even boast more Nigerian that so many of us here. This is the same nonsense that have been perceived in the nff technical committee which have slowed down the approach to get some of this kids who re good enough for our various teams. I got an information yesterday why ebere eze's invitation to the national team have been delayed. I learnt the nff technical committee were agitating that Rohr is hell bent on infusing so many European born players to the super eagles at the expense of home grown talents and secondly that Eze is still unproven in the championship and for these reasons do not deserve a chance in the super eagles yet. Rohr took notice of eze's qualities as a natural play maker when he trained with the team in UK few years ago and penciled him down as a possible replacement for aging John obi mikel but because of the fear of an outburst from the nff and football fans back home who will tag his team a team of 2nd Division players he had to delay the lads invite hoping he makes the leap to the epl or any top division in Europe. Alot are happening behind the scene but Rohr have been very calm and as well handling issues professionally not to letting things out to the media. It's high time we change this mentality of ours and accept this kids as our own notwithstanding where they were given birth in or groomed. Selection of players to our various national teams should be on an open ground where only the best will be picked to build a formidable team. And to those with this mindset your hate is worst than racism! |

charlesemeka85:Agreed without one iota of reservation Can l add that another reason NFF officials may not take kindly to Nigerian origin players in Europe and or the UK. Is that thier careers progression is not anchored on national team selection. As a result, Nigerian origin players will not concede too demands for appreciation and or gratification essentially Egunje. On the other hand Nigerian born and sourced players will almost do ANYTHING and concede to any DEMANDS our local NFF coaches will place on them.in order for national team selection. The sad truth. |

I got the Info from a reliable source yesterday and I felt so sad. Even I was also informed that these kids are first noticed and scouted by the super eagles scounting network and once it is mentioned in the media the FA of their country of birth swoop immediately to invite them to their youth teams which is very attractive and lucrative for them to turn down. The case of Eze, lookman, torunarigha, uduokhai, danjuma and recently Felix agu are case studies to this claim. If well respected FAs in world football can work hard in getting these kids to play for them why can't we follow suit? Imagine Italy tying Moise Keane down even when he is not proven inorder to wade of the lure of the Ivorian FA. Look at world champions France, kids of African ancestry made up 70% of their team that won the last world cup. komekn: |

, but that was not what I was referring to. Most of the Nigerian team usually consists of homegrown players. Unless you are not willing to admit it, they don't play like their foreign counterparts. They are brought up differently. I repeat inviting foreign-born players directly to the national team is a recipe for disaster. It might work out but 7 out of 10 times it won't.
