benji93: Since your grouse is the word 'core' there are many interpretations of the word core (Onazi et al are still SE players but they are no longer the core of the team) Away from semantics, out of the foreign borns only two have been invited for the first time, the others have fit in perfectly (One is even the Captain)So your fears are unsubstantiated |

On the bolded, don't give me the different interpretations narrative- Are you going to refer to benchwarmers as the core of a team? If you are wrong, admit it, and don't ascribe it to semantics. I have been talking about the starting 11 so far-It's not as if none of them deserves a call-up apart from Okoye ofcourse. My argument of integrating most of them into the youth teams is to ensure that they can partner better with their home-grown counterparts. My point can only be negated if all 7 make the first team and perform very well together. So i am afraid it's yet to be unsubstantiated. We will see in the forthcoming matches. Earthquake1: |

ChrisKels: Na naija mentality dey affect you so. One can have tatoos and piercings and still be dedicated and hardworking. Okoye was raised in Germany not in naija where dreadlocks and a pierced ear is enough evidence that one is a criminal. Learn to look beyond appearance in judging character. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Curtisaxel7: Serious youngsters care less about looks, during their formative years. Tattoo impressions isn't just an African thing, even over there, it doesn’t really portray someone as disciplined. Throughout last year, I was a regular at mundoalbicelesti, u needed to have seen how Argentine fans were complaining bitterly about their players' propensity to get tattoos which they deduced make them care more about looks, and less focused on the main business. Yes, that was just fans being fans. My point is, it's not just a mentality peculiar to Africans(Nigeria) 2 Likes |

ChrisKels:over there, is where? Maduka grew up in Europe, not South America. Mundo albiceleste is an Argentine website, is it not? Aside Africa, tattoo impressions are also bad in Asia and South America, these areas have a similar ideology of life; same way these continents have similar perceptions of what family is about, and how they also happen to contain the majority of third world countries These perceptions do not hold true in most of the Western world. Tattoos are lookes upon as a form of identity, each tattoo is believed to have a story attached to it. This is why, when a person has a tattoo, they are asked the inspiration. Your seriousness or otherwise is not attached to the body art you have, especially in certain careers like showbiz, entertainment etc. That is why a lot of European players are riddled with tattoos. Please, let us be guided when we say "over there".....Maduka Okoye is not South American, and knows nothing of South American cultures or what they approve of. He grew up in a more liberal Germany, and in Germany, nobody really cares about a teenager getting tattoos. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Opponents Watch: Sept 10 countdown Ukraine players are impressed with their fans ahead of Nigeria friendly – Yarmolenko The Yellow and Blue forward has given the Super Eagles a warning ahead of their friendly game at Dnipro Arena Ukraine winger Andriy Yarmolenko has stated his side will go all out against Nigeria when they meet in an international friendly on Tuesday. Andriy Shevchenko’s men defeated Lithuania 3-0 in Saturday’s European Championship qualifying game at LFF Stadium, Vilnius. The West Ham United forward, who is banking on the support of their fans, is hoping his side can maintain their performances when they slug it out with the three-time Africa champions in Dnipro. “Before the match [vs Lithuania], when we were going to the stadium, we saw how many of our fans were on the streets,” Yarmolenko told the FFU website. “They were even more surprised when they went out to work out and saw how many were in the stands. Thanks again to them. “I am sure that we will play with full force against Nigeria in the Dnieper as we will be supported by the fans.” This will be the first game for the Super Eagles since finishing third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
