The Nigerian armed forces and their lack of special operators and covert ops units. My thoughts:

I have often wondered:

Do we really have special forces personnel on the Nigerian Armed Forces?

Every serious military should as we are in an age of wars left and right

I'm not talking about the pretenders we keep calling special forces soldiers ooo but real special forces soldiers that have undergone harsh training for at least 2 years in various aspects of warfare; both conventional and unconventional suited to specific mission purposes.

The US has at least 8 different types of Special operative soldiers in their Special Operations command that can be called up for various missions. E.g.

The Delta Force Unit

The Navy Seals of which Seal Team Six is the most elite unit of all seal team units.

The Green Berets

The 75th Ranger Regiment

The USAF special forces Paratroopers

The Marine Raiders

The Marine Force Recon

The Night stalkers (Special flight forces)

The CIA Special Activities Division (aka CIA Special Operations Group): They are the best of the best and their activities are very very very very very very very top secret. They are made of the best Special forces soldiers selected from the above spec-ops unit and trained again for at least 9 months. Some of them are so good that they are called out of retirement.

These are the ones I can remember right off my memory. Trust me, I didn't even need to check the internet for these units again because I have studied and read about them for at least 8yrs (no jokes). Many of these units have a rich history some of them dating back to WW2.

Now some of you are bragging here about how those that didn't want to die chickened out and I hear stupid statements like "Khaki work no easy", " they no get liver" and other stupid shit. They prolly realised that the NA doesn't care for its personnel in the battle ground and leaves them with 1950s and 1960s equipment to fight a well funded and internationally backed terrorist group with better equipment and armor. Nobody wants to die for such a military that withholds benefits from the families of the fallen soldiers.

Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't one of those who ran away from training. Even with my BS and MS degrees at age 24, I wasn't selected after applying for SSC multiple times at different years. However, I think it was God at work because looking back now, I don't think I can be truly patriotic for a poorly underfunded military like Nigeria's whose generals have since sold their souls to Lucifer (ISWAP) for money.

Now back to my little essay:

These elite units are highly funded with air support and drones and with the latest weaponry and kits and they aren't owed allowances neither are they secretly buried after they are KIA. In fact, its rare for the US to loose so many Spec ops soldiers in one day like the NA does.

This led me to the following conclusions:

The Nigerian Military has ill-trained soldiers whose only ability is foolish slogans like "Morale high" and "Kawai".

The Nigerian Military has no Spec-Op units. Taking selected men to trained for 6 months in a funny country like Serbia doesn't make them special operators. Average time for Spec-Op training in the US is 2 yrs after which each operator undergoes specialized training ranging from 6months -2 yrs depending on special skills to be learnt (e.g signals and common, Medical, etc).

The Nigerian Military is a Joke and has been reduced to Chicken shit no thanks to bad leaders. This raises another question: Does the Nigerian Military give out awards for bravery displayed in the line of duty to soldiers that go above and beyond in the face of enemy fire. This raises the morale of soldiers and their respective units. The awards are doled out posthumously too and the US regularly gives out wards for bravery to both living or dead soldiers. E.g.

Congressional Medal of Honor

The Distinguished service cross

The Navy Cross

The Air force cross

The Silver star

The Bronze star

The purple Heart

Read this https://themedalofhonor.com/medal-of-honor-recipients

Etc

But here is a country whose tales of gallantry displayed by soldiers against the terrorist are unknown. Please if you know if such tales, kindly tell them here as it will raise the morale of those going to the battle field.

I have now reels out what's been eating me about our military. You guys should feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and constructive criticisms etc.

Gos bless Nigeria and good luck to those who have applied and those fighting or going to fight in the North-East.

Wow..... Touching.....you have a point there.

To the SSC guys who ran away from training, I retrieve my harsh statement towards them and I apologise.

Nice one bro.

Great write up, permit me to add a few things.

Firstly it’s not how long a soldier trains that determines he or her productivity or the amount of skills acquired. Without support they all are pencils in the hands of our creator.

Secondly I would be glad if our great military can change or restructure its operation in terms of request for Air and Artillery support. Here in our beloved country our section command cannot easily request for air and artillery support during a shootout, They have to go through long chain of command up to the battalion level sometimes to be able to get these supports. Which isn’t always good because it takes time. Like you rightly said a section commander in the US can easily request for these support and get them almost instantly. These situations can either boost or diminish the moral of Troops during warfares.

Thirdly the strength of our beloved great nation military is quite poor for a population of over 200million citizens.

Fourthly the defense budget for the military is quite poor when compared to the that of other great nations.

You have said a lot and i got a lot to say probably if God’s willing we get the opportunity to Serve our great nation. We would be able to input our quota to make our nation greater.

God bless the COAS
God bless the Nigerian Army
God bless the Armed forces
God bless Nigeria

Now this is awesome, if people with the burden of reformation and transformation; men who are agents of change do not step in then the story would definitely not change....This is why everyone going into the military must be willing to contribute his own quota(positive) and not hide under the canopy of *if we can't beat them,we join them* as this will keep compounding issues in the NA....The painful thing is how many would keep their convictions even after they have been commissioned?
However, wisdom must be the bedrock of our operations.....

You may not know, but if you know this fine. TRCN issues (1) Certificate (2) License (3) Ensure you are registered with them as the title 'TR' can be used or attached to your name and used by you just like other professionals(This is renewable every year), (4) They also provide a platform where you can register in the Association of teachers in your own field of study asides from the main registration. (5) Take up legal cases on your behalf especially when you are being exploited or denied your welfare, rights, and being made to work outside your terms of employment. (6) Where necessary, they also connect you for jobs; that is usually amongst colleagues from the Association of your registered field of study. This is just a few among many benefits. I am only encouraging you to do the needful, and ask questions where neeccessary even as hope is anchored on God towards the best.

Hello,
Please I have a TRCN certificate I got after my graduation in 2017. It has not been renewed since then. Is it still valid?

It needs to be renewed. Just send a message through to their help lines, or go to their office. I think it will cost you N6, 000 except if you are charged also for the previous years, you also may be given a waiver. You already have it, so you don't need any exams, just renewal. You don't have a problem, just leave those who want to keep arguing unnecessarily to keep doing so. No matter which Army Corps you are applying through, get your professional certification, and licences where necessary, and renew where need be...It is a message to everyone...NASB will clear your doubt this year even if your Father is the Chief of Army Staff.Do the right thing, and stop giving yourself unnecessary consolation, screaming godfather here, and there...Once, it is time all the noise makers will hide in their rat holes...See you there.
