Best thing to do. I wonder why unregistered sim will still be available in Nigeria.

Nigeria is a negatively amazing country. So there are sim cards that are still unregistered and functional? Even after MTN was fined for allowing unregistered sims on their network. Wonderful.

What kind of country is this? Is this not the reason MTN was fined? Telecommunications providers are still issuing unregistered sims? This is what happens when you issue fine and then negotiate with kickback

We are talking about curbing the use of unregistered sim for criminal purpose and this is the best you can come up with. Nigeria is a reflection of it's citizen.

Can the country security agencies even track registered sim?
Biodun556:
It's a real problem. Kidnappers and other criminals using unregistered sim card cannot be tracked.

In April, 2019, 28 Lawyers were issued their letters of employment having scaled the hurdles of various interviews stages conducted by Oyo State Ministry of Justice, their joy knew no bound.
Their joy was however curtailed when the new governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde informed them that his administration cannot inherit the past administration's employees even though they were employed under the normal employment procedure and neither of them owns any allegiance to the past governor.
The governor informed them that his administration will conduct new recruitment and if they are interested they should apply. All appeals for the governor to retract his stands fell on deaf ears and the further appeal to him to pay them their 5 months outstanding salaries seems was equally overlooked by the governor.
Government is expected to be continual, but it is quite unfortunate that these innocent lawyers will have to bear the burnt of power play to which they know nothing about.
It is a shame that the governor to whom we all hold in high esteem will chose to play politics with a sensitive matter that evolves around lives and survival of these innocent employees.
They had their chance to choose a governor few months ago

problem is i have registered and re-registered my lines so many times. the companies themselves are not straight.

but if we are all bothered about security, then we need only registered sim cards. it is the first step in reigning in the kidnapping scourge

it is possible... 9+9=18 (1+8=9) so there can be two 9s but 1 is valid for Nigeria and the other is an extra baggage for cheat jobs... i cannot support what i am not a beneficiary of. i am a Nigerian

The Federal Government is set to block over 9 million unregistered mobile phone Sim cards in Nigeria.

According to a Government statement, the Minister of Communications, Dr Isa Patanmi has directed the Nigerian Communications Commision(NCC) to block all those sim cards until their users present themselves.

“As at today, preliminary investigation revealed, we have over 9 Million unregistered Sim Cards in Nigeria, I have directed the NCC to immediately block those numbers until the users present themselves, ” the Minister said via a tweet on Thursday.
Thanks to the Honourable Minister of Communication for initiating the preliminary investigation and with orders that follows it. But come to think of it, how does the 9 millions unregistered sim cards got to the market. Did anyone needs to tell the NCC before they carry out such steps. If it were to be private organization, I knew some people must have been given query or got their appointment terminated. I hope the NCC will obey the order of the minister.
