[quote author=Pearl05 post=82138248]Hello mamas,
How important is 18weeks immunization ? On the card given to us at the hospital after the 14weeks next is 6 months but the GSK man there that gives Rota vaccine said that there is for 18weeks tagged Meningococcal conjugate which cost #11,000.

Please who has knowledge about this matter? [/quote

Have never heard of this one before o

Thank you ma

You may be right because she just came back from a long holiday where she has many people to play with unlike now that it only her and daddy and mummy. We equally noticed she always want to go out unlike before and anybody opening the door must be ready to take her out lol.

We are trying our and naturally her dad always get her engaged once he comes back from work and I always try my best too but a situation where she wake up in the middle of the night nagging is very strange.

We will continue trying our best and hope she forget the holiday period very soon lol.

This is absolutely normal. My ds also displayed for us when we got back from sallah break (plenty people). When we got back, he cried for like a week. Serious cry, I must not step few inches away from him n all sorts. He's back to his normal self now. Just be patient and wait it out.

Yes. All immunizations from 12months are paid. Ask about it where you get yours. Check your card, all the immunization schedule is well detailed there.

Good afternoon mamas... Pls how can one stop a child from picking things up from the floor to the mouth?? I've tried constant sweeping but he seems to look for the things out... Also, how can I stop him from biting? Or slapping people in the face... Abi am I disturbing myself? He's 10 months old... Pls help a ftm

We're in the same shoe. I guess you can't stop it. It's there stage and time. You also cannot be carrying the child up and down as this is their time to explore. It's your own little work to make the place baby safe (by being proactive, clean clean clean, pick anything on the floor before he does). It's hard but that's the price of being a parent. May God reward our patience and hardworking.

The other mama already answered the second question.

The first nothing much you can do, just up your hygiene

Biting or slapping is a no-no, sternly correct him when he does it (2 finger light smacking/eye contact while you say STOP firmly, please don't shout but be firm)

Or bite him back when he bites

OK ma... I'll do that n see how it goes... Thanks for the response... Tho I like the biting back idea cos that's what his dad does but I haven't been able to.. I'll just shove him till he forgets... I'll try the light Spanking now... Thanks

If u have a spare room, you can dedicate that room for his play.tty to keep it clean because at that age, there is little you can do about putting things in the mouth.wash his hands often.disinfect whatever he puts in his mouth.it can be tiring but that is the price we have to pay. I don't know about the othe4 question other Sabi mamas will chook mouth

Thanks, I hope I can use hand sanitizer on him as in he's not too small.,incase he puts his hand in his mouth, is it safe?

Hello lovely Moms! I'm a ftm who has been a silent follower of this thread for some months now, but just joined nairaland now.

My baby is almost 2 months old now (7weeks+). Pls I'll like to ask if it's normal for a baby of that age not to poop for 5 days straight? He only farts & pees regularly, and doesn't show any sign of discomfort. I'm really worried cos for an adult, it's a thing of concern not to poop for that long embarassed. BTW, he's on EBF. Thanks as I await your responses.

If it's serious, take her to the hospital let them rule of infection. If it's just difficulty breathing at night, you can do steam inhalation before bed, (put hot water in a bucket, carry your baby and sit over the bucket, cover your head with towel and let her inhale) or you can put a drop of silverbird on your pillowcase at night so that you'll have the smell of it in your room all night to help with breathing, also keep her warm all night cuz the weather is still cold, we are currently sleeping with all the windows closed.
Re: NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by Giddyperson: 7:53am On Sep 13, 2019
Speaking of Silverbird. I recently went somewhere to see a new born baby, and then a group of older women came to see the baby too and as soon as they arrived, they declared that the baby was underweight then advised the mum to get silverbird oil and start applying it the baby's soft spot everyday to increase her appetite.

I don't know which mother manufactures all this advice from the pit of hell and then makes it trend. Biko silverbird oil is way to conc for anybody's skin. It would probably burn my skin if i tried it. A mama here once wrote that she was advised to do the same thing and she ended up giving her newborn baby a serious burn on her head.
Hearing the advice again made me realize it might now be trending practice.

Biko poverty and frustration makes people do a lot of questionable things to their babies, which they then try to pass off as cool. Eucalyptus oil should not be put anywhere around your baby's skin, don't mix it with your baby's cream, don't give your baby a drop to swallow. It is not palm kernel oil cheesy.

Finally, if you have a new born baby, you owe it to him/her not to listen to the older women around you, this includes mother and mother in law cheesy. Most of them would say anything to remain relevant. If you're having double mind about following 2qqqany of their advice, then you probably shouldn't or at least ask here first. Thank you for your time.

Sounds like cradle cap.

Here's what I did for my son back then that worked.

First, I poured enough coconut oil on his hair. You can use olive oil too. Then I covered his hair with a clean black nylon and left it for like 30mins or so. Took off the nylon and I used a small comb to gently comb out the flakes in the hair. The sides that didn't come off, I put more oil and let it soak and then I combed off again. After which I washed his hair with baby shampoo. (I usually buy the 2 in 1 shampoo, that's the one that is a shampoo and conditioner in one)
i use selsun anti dandruff shampoo for my baby and it works wonders. Mix with little water and apply on his hair and wait for 5 mins before you wash off

Thank you for this. That's how my SIL told me that her Dd has ntị wa ịsị, I told her I've never heard of that and there's nothing like that. She went to hospital, they told her the same. When I went to visit her, I asked her about it, she told me a nurse gave her silverbird to use on her forehead that she did and now it has closed. I told her have you applied it on your skin, do you know it's harsh? I can't even use it for steam inhalation ni. She was like Ohhhh, no wonder my baby was always crying anytime I use it on her, I even finished it.
I told you there's nothing like that, hospital chased you back, you still went to see nurse mgbenga.
I was even telling her to wear firm bra, MIL told her to wear nursing bra that firm bra will give her breast cancer cos of the breastmilk. I shaa just left them cos it come be like tug of war with MIL.

[s]Meanwhile she's in my house doing ọmụgwọ for her daughter who's in her husband house. I don't know how someone will be here and there at the same time. She vehemently refused to go to SIL's house. If I complain, they'll say I'm not accommodating enough. From ọmụgwọ to staying with us till December. Even hubby is stylishly complaining but mbaaa!! they want me to talk so that village pipo will hawk my matter[/s]

Breastmilk is the "perfect" food. not much comes out in form of solid waste as all of it's components are useful to the baby. Averagely babies poo every 5-10 days

Please don't stress yourself, the important thing is baby is peeing frequently and feeding well. He will download massive poo for you soon
