A lady identified as Nene (Nee)Nwokah has died from explosion which got her children injured.The children are currently fighting for their lives in a hospital in Owerri.

We grew up criticising nne for always using firewood and kerosene stoves (sparingly) to cook.. Esp after we visit classmates and family friends homes and see their 'sweet smelling' gascookers. To the extent that when Paterson zochonis,a Greek company that my dad distributes for gives us yearly gifts,nne keeps other electronics but auctions off the gascookers among them..


Fastfoward years later,...am married with kids...guess what? We don't use gascookers in the house,...not after what I experienced sometime in 2003,...


Modified# For those that have been quoting to knw how i do it..I have a very solid earthen kiln constructed for me and several metal structures that make use of saw dusts,agro by products and coals..they can match any type of gas or electric cookers kilojoule for kilojoule. I also have kerosene stoves ,but they are rarely used in my house....and of course I have giant tripods that use firewoods for large scale party cookings

Ah this is terrible... and their bodies might never be the same again. God pls heal the little angels. RIP beautiful woman! This is just one of the disadvantage of gas but stove is a no no

Chai! As sweet and fast gas is. The explosion is just scary. Most explosion are caused mostly by human carelessness acts. I have cautioned a lady times without numbers that's fond of taking her phone while on call to the kitchen while the gas cooker is on.

Most times it's gas leakage or when exposed to the atmosphere and then there is a source to ignite i.e phone call or any kind of spark from naked wire or iron hitting iron.

Men should always examine their wife's cooking gas every month .Most of the fire incident are caused by human negligence .

People need to be careful with gas.. It should be outside the house not inside.. You think this thing won't happen until it happen
