This is not a tax! Taxes goes to government. This is a service charge and will be retained by service providers (banks). The aim of this is to force citizens to use cashless options instead of cash.
and when they have achieved their goals you will see how they will look for one way or the other to meek us dry!!! Banks and other financial institutions will work just like PayPal and will be charging between 2% and %5 for any transactions and other charges as well under the guise of maintenance fees, sometimes you might even want to do transaction and there will be no network for that because other people wants to do theirs as well and the network will be overwhelmed!! plus issues of epileptic power supply!! the problems of Nigeria is this: our so called leaders don't plan to put anything in place before implementing their policy just because they see other countries doing the same and where successful but they forgot to grasp the fact that it took them years of planning etc, everything about our leaders is if they see something that will FAVOUR them they will use aggressive means to implement it, if only they can use the same for economic development Nigeria would have been a better place!!!!

Higher taxes theoretically should mean faster and better government interventions to providing quality social amenities. However in Nigeria, it just simply means more money for politicians to share amongst themselves.

In other words, until this aberration is FIRST corrected, any form of tax increment is wickedness and callous robbery of the citizenry!
The only way a government can work is if the people feel they have an expectation and hold government accountable and the only way to do that is to tax the citizens till he feels it enough to care

U think if subsidy came from tax we would still have it ?
U think if people are taxed they would be paid 5k to vote when u pay 30k a month in tax

U think people would allow rigging ?

If they deposit more than 500k per day, the solution is simple!
Offer cashless options to your customers! There are many types! POS, bank transfer, etc

You're out here talking blind. In the CHAIN PROCESS of CASHLESS TRANSACTIONS, SOMEBODY within the chain HAS TO MAKE CASH DEPOSITS otherwise THERE CANNOT BE CASHLESS TRANSACTIONS. Someone in that chain has to enter the bank to credit the account, because that is the foundation of every economy, CASH. Every country in the world, every government in the world PRINTS CASH currency to circulate within its country for trade and purchases and other reasons. If you truly want ZERO CASH OR CASHLESS Economy the government should not print cash again and let's see whether that economy will not collapse. Cash (physical legal tender) can never be eradicated. The problem is the Nigerian government are always so dumb and wicked, every time they try to solve one problem, they end up created 20 new problems. They create more problems whenever they try to solve and eventually end up not solving anything at all but adding new problems to society. The problem they are trying to solve is DECREASING THE POPULATION OF UNBANKED PEOPLE. Education would have been a better way to do that. The more your population gets educated, I mean illiteracy level decreases in society, the more people will naturally embrace banking. That's one feasible way to achieve this aim. A gradual process. It can never happen over night no matter what you do. But introducing terrible economic policies because you want to force people to bank, and not really because you want to force them to bank for their benefit but because you want to force them to bank so you can further exploit the masses through the banks and RIP THEM OFF OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY is nothing but wickedness and fraud. I just pity APC, as of now, THERE IS STATISTICALLY NO WAY FOR THEM to win 2023 presidential elections. Just like GEJ cost PDP the presidency, APC will lose in 2023 because of Buhari. Mark this post down.

Why are people so blind
You think the money will go to the banks? It goes to the government. Why will it be a narional policy bankwide and while will cbn governor be making the statement?
This is a fiat!
The have already levied charges on online transactions a while ago, so what do you mean by encouraging cashless transactions.
You tax cash deposit/withdrawals and also tax online transactions, what does that speak?
The government is looking for how to raise funds but it shouldn't be on hapless nigerians. The Nigerian government is not creative and can't think outside the box on how to raise cash

Good. Normally in most of these developed economies, the rich are taxed more. We're simply getting there. It is when you begin to pay tax that your consciousness to ask questions about what it is being used for can come up.

Pay tax for some people to come and loot it? Paying any kind of tax in a broken entity like Nigeria is very discouraging. No accountability, no guarantees that the said tax will not end up in the hands of thieves. Noooo.
Wicked APC demons devising more ways to steal from the already impoverished citizens. Wicked souls from hell that's what they are.
Everyday they keep proving to people that they are not any better than the thieving PDP government they replaced. To hell with all politicians, they are all scums fit for the gutters.

Do u look at the religion or tripe of the owner of the bank u bank ur money ?

Nigerians dont care about leaders because they dont really contribute anything ....its ur luck if u get to power ....its nicer delta oil money

But u if u are tax 20% of ur income plus other tax amonting to 20k a month would u have an excuse not to vote
Would u have an excuse not to protest ?

Would u prefer we dont tax and remain like this ?

What politicians earn in a year is not half of what civil sarvants earn in a month ....that's a fact

Government jumbo salary has nothing to do with our lack of development ,lack of funds is

My brother, nigerians have protested, they were killed. They were locked up. Increased in tax will still not make govt not to shoot.

I'm scared, seems u are Buhari's fan or in govt. Companies are taxed multiple times. At least there are people who are taxed heavily running business today. For instance, in markets, shot owners pay heavily on tax compared to what they make. Why have they not protested for better market infrastructure? I can use Aria ria market in Aba (pardon the spelling) my aunt husband has business there, I know series of tax his company pays, he complains, he is not alone. The tax has not added any value to the market. The market is still in shits. That did not make them to protest.

Nigerians don't protest because among the other reasons I gave u, they don't want to die. I have spoken to many Nigerians who scared of coming out to protest because our police don't use water to handle protests, they use live bullets. Increased in tax won't change that except govt decide to be reasonable.
Nigerians are poor. I don't know where u expect the heavy tax to come from. Middle class in Nigeria is extremely weak. Govt needs to be reasonable first. In Africa, we know govt use military and police to intimidate citizens into silence.
2face wanted to protest the other time, go and ask him what he went thru.

It's policy implementation tax, aimed at encouraging cashless transactions.
