mrvitalis: You don't pay value added tax? If u work for govt or private sector, ur salary pay a type of tax as well before you get paid. By the way, I gave u a life example, those who pay such tax are yet to protest for the poor utilization of their tax because police will shoot them. If u know the number of nigerians in secret detentions for voicing out, u wil weep. Nigerians pay all sorts of charges already bro. And that runs into trillions. |

mrvitalis: Funny you, What have they done with the tax workers pay? In a working system like the UK, an increase in tax means an increase in major amenities. In Nigeria, an increase in tax means an increase in the size of the politician's stomach. Fix this system first, every other thing will fall in place. 1 Like |

mrvitalis: Bros, tax is tax. There different types of tax and they are all tax. Every Nigerian pay value added tax. And that runs into trillions. We don't want to talk about others. Stop justifying something that is not worth it. Govt does not provide water for Nigerian, we provide our own water. We source for our own electricity. Our fuel is expensive, and we still fuel car, we fuel generators. Telecom companies spend billions monthly to generate power A-side paying power companies. Same as banks and other companies. We also pay for our own private securities these days. So the most basic things of govt are not provided to Nigerians. Yet, the same govt does not buy fuel, they use it for free, the same govt does not pay security, they use the ones we collectively maintain, they don't pay for water, it is given freely, they don't pay for feeding, they don't pay for health-care. More tax will never make the govt responsible. It will not stop govt from shooting protesters. In developed climes, five persons can protest and no one will shoot them. U don't need heaven and earth to protest. U would be killed in Nigeria if u protest. Taxation does not make people protest. The govt needs to create the environment for such. |

mrvitalis: I don't understand your question, Nigeria is a super-rich nation, more than what you can imagine. Our major revenue is Oil and Gas. Dubai has the same Oil and Gas but have used their revenue in making Dubai paradise on earth. We have used ours in sending our politicians children abroad and paying for their fat salaries. most of the roads are bad, Electricity worse, Health for where? Education dead. What have we done with what we have to justify an increase, thats what really matters? When the system works and it is transparent, trust me people will pay tax. |

nams77: 1. I am not blind. I am very knowledgeable about the financial industry. This services is not new! It has been existing for some years now. Banks have been holding the money and adding it to their profit! CBN is making statement about it because CBN supervises banks in the country 2. Online transaction were never exempted from VAT! Just that govt did not collect it. Now they want to collect it. What is wrong in that? VAT law already specified exempted items and services. It does not matter how you pay for the items and services that are not VAT exempt, you still need to pay tax! 3. Should we go to Benin and Cameroon to tax their citizens to raise revenue then? We all want good things but we want it for free! How is that possible? Lol!!! |
