If my daughter is in JSS3 and she has no clue about something as simple as Malawi but rather giving me gist about one yeye azz tweaker in another continent... I will wake her up at 1am and beat hell out of her sense.

I am a father of two children. My children are addicted to two things, my son is addicted to watching English league even though he can't play soccer, but the one that disturb me most is my daughter addiction to cardi b. If you want to see her rage, just say something negative about Cardi b and she will talk none stop about her and castigate every other artiste such as Nicky minaj that she feels are against cardi b.
They both don't have access to social media, but my daughter access you tube once in a while when ever my phone WiFi is on.
This morning during family worship we spoke about Malawi and she said she had never heard of the country name before, so I and her mother started harassing her that she will never listen to news but entertainment. In annoyance I said if it is cardi b now she will know, and her mother ask her when kulture cardi b daughter was born, guess what my daughter knows the date, the day and time.
There I gave up. What do I do? The passion with which she follows cardi b sometimes is draining, she believes she is from the lower ladder of the social economy and she made it against all odds.

lolzzzz... It's alright. She'll grow out of it. It's not something that's not normal na. And for her age.

I've been there. Taylor Allison Swift was (and is still) my idol. I knew every single thing about her including her cats' names and records/achievements as a musician. I also argued with my teacher about her for over an hour ... because she's dated more than nine guys in ten years. He was judging her.

I don't follow her as much now... Growing up...

I smiled while reading your complaints because I was once like your daughter, at her age back then. Nicki Minaj was my celebrity hero and Tiwa Savage was like the GOAT for me. I downloaded all their songs, in secondary school that time, I used my friend's phone to download and rap to Nicki's songs, I even had a rap book dedicated to her where I and my friends in school will freestyle to her songs.
At home nkor, my PC instead of using it to do meaningful things that time, anytime my father subscribed data, I'd use the modem to download Tiwa Savage's pictures. I kid you not, I had over 2,000+ pics of Tiwa on my PC. That's to tell you how obsessed I was then. They could do no wrong in my eyes then, tell me Nicki or Tiwa was trash then, and I would kill you .
Ah! they wanted to even conduct deliverance for me that time sef, the obsession was too much.

But guess what? I outgrew all these things esp when I finished sec school and when university show me shege . I hardly listen to Nicki or Tiwa Savage these days. Although i listen to their very old songs seldom anyways but give it time, she'd definitely outgrow this.
Take it from me .


PS: Despite my obsession for them as at that time, I still topped my class and listened to news, read papers and all. Just advice her that she also has to pick up interest in other things. You have a smart daughter anyways, she'd do well.
