Busola2:Now that I have read the other side of the story, I have better understanding of the issues at stake. That the said Glory is an incompetent social media marketer/influencer is very obvious. Her written English and communication skills are highly suspect, but she was hired by your boss. The fact that she was given employment letter by your boss shows your boss was satisfied with her "skills" and qualifications. After hiring her, she must be paid for each day she came to work. The excuse that her salary is tied to a target is untenable and even illegal. I have my own staff. I also give them bonus or commissions based on targets, but they must also have a specified salary. I make the salary relatively low and the bonus high. That way I don't pay outrageous salary for little output. It helps motivate staff so much so that sometimes they offer to come on Sundays. Your boss should have simply fired her and pay her for the days she worked (or came to the office), after collecting all company property and social media accounts/password. In business and especially social media, reputation is everything. The damage caused by this small scandal will be far more expensive than the chicken change that your boss should have paid to let her carry her wahala away. |

wirinet:Both sides are wrong. She should be paid for the time worked no matter what. But from the scenario that they had to get security to get her out means the complainant must have been lousy making things worse for her. I have had a scenario like this, unfortunately it was with a male boss who the lousy staff even went the extent of claiming she was sexually harassed after she got fired. The lady was shouting fraudsters everywhere. Our boss then swore he was not going to give her a dime for the rest of the month she worked, got the police involved and that was it. Some people really have bad attitudes. As in you go the extra mile to disuade instagram followers to unfollow a company? This sounds more like bitterness than she wants to actually get her salary paid. She really needs someone to advice her. If na me she do this thing to, she will know the meaning of the word "Libel" and get to know that people go to jail for it. As for the boss, she no try. Social media specialist that cannot communicate in good english should not spend a week in the company. Always test competency of your staff. Also, have a manager. Never fire staff directly, use your managers to do the dirty job. State your conditions of salary loud and clear. Goodnight abeg. |

| Re: My Boss Asked Security To Throw Me Out Because I Asked For My Money by midnighter(f): 9:52pm On Sep 21, 2019 |
This grammar that everybody is bashing her about is actually the baseline literacy level for a Nigerian who finished at a middling university with an average result, someone who speaks English as a second language and someone who is more comfortable using vernacular or pidgin Furthermore she is working on social media and thats the type of english we tend to see them using all the time, even bloggers do it In fact nsogbu nke a could have been prevented with a basic English literacy and comprehension test before commencing the interview The employer was just doing anyhow, maybe because she wants to fill the vacancy in her fledgling company and the pay is quite low. IF she wanted somebody with "classier" English she should have hired them..cos this was just so unnecessary.. Or better still hire her as social media account manager for FLIGHTJARA YORUBA/EFIK/PIDGIN if shes more comfortable in those languages.. |

Bari22:Forget it, not in Nigeria. I have worked for someone like that who employed people market his freight company with a verbal amount of remuneration. After some weeks, he sacked some that they are not bringing in business which was not part of the contract. These young people have invested their little savings into transportation thinking they will get some form of payment back but was left high and dry. He took their leads and follows it up.there was no side to the story. He felt he conned them.its rampant in Nigeria |

xpresseeve:Because she is Otedola jnr's wife ![]() Is she God that decides to change contracts midway and nobody can do anything about it? The lady in question is still being considerate. If I were her, first thing I will do is to lodge in the police station that if anything happens to me and kids within the next 6months, hold Jola abi Jolu or whatever responsible. Secondly, I'll go for blood, I have nothing to lose, she has family respect to lose. I won't even call her out, I'll go straight to her family members and SM influencers with my appointment letters, sworn affidavit and all proof I can muster (emails, call logs, sms etc) Let them be the ones to pay me off or call her to order. I won't demand only salary o, I will add severence bonus and trauma fees at at least 50%. Some people need to know that no be only them sabi craze. Igbale ni oko were |

Busola2:For funny Nigerians clamouring for English language, this bisola's English typo is also bad and she is supposed to be the "co-worker". Nigerians need to rise above this useless obsession with a language not ours.. I read a thread earlier, where some guys and ladies were busy atacking a guy because they seemed his English typo too strong for communication.. Here is a lady in trauma seeking redress for wrongs she opined was done to her and all many could hammer on was English typo.. Well, Madame, I don't know what to say on this case because, I don't know the truth and this case obviously looks deeper than what we have here on social media. But, I noticed that this post by this lady called bisola seems as if she is hell bent on painting the lady as the devil himself, In lieu of this, I officially say: I don't know what and who to believe.. |

Neddstark:Nigerians are generally poor managers, especially high management levels. I agree with you that the management structure of the company is very poor. The MD should not be relating directly with ordinary workers. There should be a manager, or managers that deals with day to day administration of the company. The MD's job is only to set aims and objectives of the company, set targets for the departments or the company, look at the reports and make final decisions. The way this company is run is the reason they are always having problem with staffs. Tying basic salaries to targets would not motivate any worker. Most new workers would need some time to settle into the job. Since they are coming from a position of joblessness and have many outstanding financial issues, the first few salaries is very critical to their motivation. Since the MD has been shown to be very poor at hiring competent workers, she better spend some money and outsource hiring of staff to human resource consultants. Imagine a new company less than a few months hiring and firing up 5 different workers. |

wirinet:The company culture is lacking but I think they said this is a start-up company? When entrepreneurs are recounting their origin stories, they usually start with "I had a team of 5 staff...in an old toothpick factory...we all shared a vision...we worked 60+ hours to get it off the ground..bla bla.." like the original creator of netflix i was listening to the other day How can you be a CEO or MD with no people-skills? before you get the middle-managers, why cant you work with your own staff?? Arent you the one that hired them? Even if she has just one staff member, that shes the MD does not mean she should be wicked. Why is she hiring people with bad English, anyhow just to abuse them later on...mtchew.. |

Neddstark:Employing her or not, The M.D should pay her the money, you are not different from the employer, she should go to the police when she has been told the repercussion or she should forget about the money like you wish? Now this is my own question to you too, IF YOU ARE THE ONE WOULD YOU JUST FORGET ABOUT EVERYTHING AND MOVE ON? KNOWING THAT YOU HAVE JUST BEEN CHEATED |

Read the letter of employment you attached and pay her her salary. So all new businesses do not pay salaries ![]() It's like your M.D did not plan well o. First of all, since she is providing consumables (recharge, transport, etc); she does not need to pay a begining marketer a BASE of N80T unless there is some kind of performance guarantee. A former school mate of mine runs a travel/tour agency as well and is now very profitable. Do you know why?? She is basically the major staff. She started running it just herself, taking people on tours in Lagos, then Kenya. She has both a Bachelors and a Masters degree from abroad o and had many job offers (including Shell). Your boss just started 1 month ago and is already paying multiple marketers N60k - N80k BEFORE commission ?? Maka gini? It will not work in the beginning when money is tight. She could do a base of say N10T and 30% of whatever money the marketer brings in. That way, she could get many marketers who will know that the real mula is in the customers.Your boss should employ 1 person, who with her should run ALL the social media accounts. Your boss should also sell leisure/networking/training packages to businesses in Lagos. Busola2: |

Busola2:you better get an hr consultant to sset up a proper emloyeee management system first thing any business does is a PROBATION period. i am also surprised at your hiring a person with poor written english to run your social media i did not see anything in that employment letter about it being target based your letter means nothing as it has neither glory's nor your bosses signature. it is a word doc you could have put together yesterday i would have expected a scanned copy of the employment letter do you have any mail trails highlighting all this, or are all these verbal, and unverifiable discussions? i hope you are sitting back and learning from all of this |

cooooooks:if the boss is actually a lower case otedola, she is probably starting the business with significantly more startup capital than your friend. it is also not practical in the long run to be the major staff, doing everything. you will run yourself ragged as your business grows in the end, this is actually the reality of all this entrepreneur bullshit people like shouting. the boss had probably not actually previously worked in a business environment.Boss has no idea abut elements of running a business. that is why her employees are running rings around her. NDA, probation period, mail trail of performance warnings and none of this would be happening. Glory is also remarkably foolish. no employer will come near her with a 10 foot pole now. it is not as if she is a high value performance employee. she simply lucked into a social media job and did not deliver this is also the issue of nigerians who will chook head into any job without considering if they have the skill set for it. thinking they can somehow learn on the job when they have no foundation whatsoever. |
