Recently my laptop stopped recognizing my mobile device whenever I connect it with a USB cord. The USB menu doesn't even come up on my phone anymore. I use my laptop to transfer files to my phone regularly and this is now a problem for me. The phone charges when plugged but that's all it does. What can I do to fix this?

Hope you have turned on USB debugging?
Try another USB port
Try another USB cable

Try making the cord stretch ie move your phone far from the system when you plug it in

Try another USB cable (original one oo),if it still doesn't work there is a big problem.

Before I conclude,I'll advise you to reload the operating system.

If problem persit after that then your PCH is bad,the section that controls the USB if faulty Which means you will have to replace the chip or replace your motherboard.

Only few engr have that bga machine,cos it is expensive.
However there something you can do Which is reflowing the PCH chip,heat with heat gun for like 40-60 secs, hopefully it will pickup but if it doesn't, you either replace the chip,buy another motherboard or use it like that .

On latest motherboard, Soc motherboard,the CPU and PCH are together, which means you will have to replace both.
