Answer to the Bolded below (lol I don’t know how to use this blog and I’m not sure I’m quoting this well but anyhow sha)

1. I used ICES and my UNI sent my Transcript two days after I paid for Transcript services via mail. So I guess email is faster. However, I didn’t get a confirmation from ICES, I mailed them and they confirmed in a reply and sha told me to expect ECA in 20weeks (December embarassed)

2. When I used ICES in the last week of July, they didn’t ask for WAEC (that was my major reason for using them sha).

I suggest you go weigh all your options because ICES is now more than 20weeks. So maybe explore the WES Route since the time is shorter and you’ll still send WEAC certificate.

My questions;

1. Has anyone tried using the email option to send his/her transcript? If yes, what’s the timeline and any advantage?

2. For Nigeria credentials, I could see waec or Neco, does this mean ICES has also started mandatory verification for those credentials?

Thank so much. what do you advise please, I as have it stated that I've got Uncles and Aunts as relatives? I only put that information in for the sake of full disclosure. I don't intend to ask them for their birth certificates or anything of the sort. Please seniors and chiefs in the house....help a sister out!

Also, I noticed the request for education transcripts on the checklist. Could this be because I have an ongoing/incomplete Canadian M.Sc. degree? But then it says "transcripts", which is really weird. I already have education certificates listed on the checklist. This Post ITA checklist just tire me, honestly.

Please can anyone help with the latter part of the post? Seniors! Aunties and Uncles! Biko come on board!

With all these talks of misrepresentation and bans, I guess it wouldn’t be wise to claim my one year NYSC experience. It’s the only work experience I have. I was supposed to pass out in October 2017 but I left NYSC in August 2017 because I had to travel out for school that August. I got my discharge certificate though but I guess if they saw my entry visa stamps, traced my work history and travel records they would see that I wasn’t In nysc for a full year.

Any suggestions? cry cry

This your story is somehow o. How can a VO rely on information he finds online which is not official. Did the VO invite the candidate for an interview to clarify things? I think there may be more to this story.

Chief, as absurd as it sounds, I have read of two cases of denial based on such scenarios. It wasn't hearsay, but a transcript from those Procedural Fairness judgements/court rulings.

In one of such cases, which was quite painful, the guy held a non-paying role in some company, which he claimed to be his friend's. Unfortunately, although he had met every other requirement, VO hammered him with a denial and 5 year ban for misrepresentation.

My advice is ensure there is consistency between the information one can gather from your online presence/footprint (do a basic Google search of your name and your LinkedIn profile too) and what you have on your application.

there is a court ruling on this. Can't find the link. The VO is legally bound to take any of your information online as true. And if it was not disclosed you get a 5 years ban. The man in the court case did not disclose he was a director in a family business ( his linkedin stated it). He argued it had no impact on his application . He lost the case. So if your linkedin is not updated or says other wise. One chance
I think I remember this story or a similar story, but it was not exactly how you put it. The applicant didn’t leave out the job. He even claimed the job in his experience, but just that he did not state that it was his organization or his family’s organization. I can’t remember exactly how they found out that it was his company, but they did. The case was that the applicant wanted to hide financial details of his organization (probably his organization had some shady deals in his country). So the refusal was not because he didn’t put work experience in personal history. Therefore, please don’t advise people to just be putting unnecessary side hustles in their personal history, not to complicate their application. For any minor hustle that is not substantial and there are no evidences of it, leave it out.

When I got an ADR for Schedule A, rather than provide my personal history for the last 10 years only, I gave them for the period starting from my 18th year.
Please explain this story of the denial. Why was he denied? Was it that he did not state that he worked in the friend’s company in his personal history? And how did they find out? If that was a job like everyday work, and there are traceable evidences of the job, any applicant should always state that in his application, but any side hustle, for example where you just do some irregular cash deals with no evidence, please I think an applicant should leave it out. Also make sure there are no traces in your social media profiles.

I honestly can't remember the specifics.

The VOs point was that there was no record of that information in either his work history or his personal history.

not the same case. Disclose all info in personal history or else one risks 5 year ban. I will find the case. So nothing like minor side hustle. Any details found online about you not in personal history equals misrepresentation

My dear, your case use style take serious o. Have you already submitted an application? You should have sorted this before applying if you have already applied. Look for extra months of work to cover for the months you were out of the country if upyou are yet to submit your application.

Good evening, I would like to confirm how many modules of BCS is required to claim the 2 or more certificates points in EE. I read on BCS site that 4 modules and an Oral test is required to get the Diploma so I just need to confirm if one certificate is okay to claim points.

Yes, an interview was conducted. The guy in question was also on the board of directors of another coy he didn't mention at all in his application because he thought it was not necessary. Unfortunately, the mistake cost him.

it does not hurt you in any way to declare any legal side hustle in your personal history. In fact, you are supposed to mention all you are doing or have done within the past 10 years.

I know I’ll still come back and give my final story but let me start with IELTS first.

1ST IELTS: 01 NOV 2018 LRWS: 7.5, 9, 6.5, 8.5.
2ND IELTS: 05 JAN 2019 LRWS: 8.5, 6, 7, 7.5.
3RD IELTS: 09 FEB 2019 LRWS: 8.5, 7, 6.5, 8.5.
4TH IELTS: 20 SEP 2019 LRWS: 8.5, 8.5, 7, 8.5

Finally got the perfect score I needed for my ielts!!!! When I started this journey I had no idea about this thread or what I was really doing. I just knew one had to write ielts, and you can apply for EE. I practiced for the first one only a week before my exam, and had I known I might have remarked. The second time I wrote it, I practiced a lot with Jay, and ieltsliz. I remember going into the exam hall feeling overly Cocky like I had a cheat sheet or something, and that definitely affected my reading score. The third time I wrote it with BC I was much more sober but didn’t get the score I needed. I requested for a remark but the score didn’t change. The fourth time, I found Johnnybravo on NL and immediately contacted him about my writing 3 days to my exam. He was meticulous, and ensured that he took me through each part of task 1 and 2. I’m certain that because of The Lord, and him I was able to attain the perfect score I got in writing because that was my weakest part, and what kept holding me back. Anyone who has issues with their writing should please reach out to him. He is extremely good!

My Tips:

Speaking: I like to talk so it’s quite easy for me to go on and on but I also practiced everyday for at least ten minutes on different topics, and recorded myself. If you’re stumped on topics to talk about, check out for podcasts on different topics that can help your vocabulary.

Listening: I did about four exercises each day, and became used to listening attentively. Practice without earphones and with just to be more comfortable. I downloaded the Cambridge 2-13 books from page 1 or so and it was extremely helpful.

Writing: contact Johnnybravo. He’s the best really.

Reading: I’ve always loved reading. I read novels, fiction, and anything really. I started reading The Economist just to get used to different words. Just ensure you time yourself, and use the answers behind the textbook to correct yourself where you make mistakes. I also used IELTSLIZ for this part especially the true/false section.

On a final note, please practice everyday. Go into the exam hall confident, and sure of yourself. May we all get our hearts desires.

Pwinkle1:

Here you go:

Step 1: Take IELTS and attain CLB 9 (viz: band score of 8777 in LRWS)

CLB 9 gives candidates additional language points boost of 50–60 points. If you are able to reach the score of 440+ without CLB 9, that is fine too.

Cost - 75000 for British council and 68,000 for IDP/MOD every time you take IELTS.

Step 2: Get your ECA done (6–8 weeks)

ECA is Education Credential Assessment. It is done by multiple organisations (WES is one of them) and provides you the Canadian equivalent degree assessment of your native country education.

Cost - Approx 285 CAD. (220 CAD Fee + 85 CAD International Delivery for WES report)

Step 3: Create EE profile on CIC website with your attained IELTS score and ECA

Making a profile enters you in the pool of candidates waiting for the ITA (Invitation to Apply). Make sure all the information mentioned in the profile is accurate as you will be asked to provide proof of all that information once you are selected.

Cost - 0

Step 4: Wait for the draw to reach your score and receive ITA afterwards

The ROI (Rounds of Invitation) happens every 2 weeks. The Canadian govt declares the min cut off score of the EE profile and all the candidates having that score or score more than it will get ITA. The score varies and is tweaked to meet the usual 3500–3500 applicants quota per ROI.

Cost - 0

Step 5: Post ITA, you get 2 months to submit your documents

After candidates receive ITA, they are supposed to provide documents and proofs of all the information mentioned in their profile along with few others. The documents/information needed from the candidates are:

Scan of Travel Document (Passport) of all applicants and visa stamp pages
Digital Photograph of all applicants
Proof of Employment of primary applicant
Proof of Funds of primary applicant
Proof of Medical of all applicants
Proof of Education & IELTS as applicable
Police Clearance Certificate (From all countries where you have resided for 6 months or more) of all applicants
Cost varies as Medical cost, PCC fees, Notarization fees etc varies as per the country. Ideally, all expenses should be covered within 300–350 CAD per applicant.
Police certificate in Nigeria: https://www.gateway.ng/Nigeria-Police-Report

Step 6: Submit documents, pay Immigration Fee and wait for the PPR (PassPort Request - For stamping)

After submitting the documents and paying the Immigration fees, the Canadian Immigration officers verify the documents and information provided. This generally takes 2–6 months depending on the application type, countries a person has resided in and most importantly, the immigration visa office where the application has been sent for processing and how much applications' backlog is there.

visa office processing time is usually 6 months, though it could take less time to process and verify the submitted documents, sometimes even more!

Cost - 1050 CAD x No. of Applicants in the application for PA and spouse and $150 per child

Step 7: PPR received. Submit Passport and get Canada CoPR (Confirmation of PR)

Once the documents are verified, candidates are intimated about the result of their application via mail. On successful processing, candidates are required to submit the passports of all the applicants for the Visa Stamping and CoPR. Passport is being sent by VFS Global and would cost around 30 CAD per passport. The stamped passport is returned to the designated address within 2 weeks along with 2 copies of CoPR.

Cost - Approx 30 CAD x No. of Applicants

Step 8: Reach Canada on CoPR and apply for PR card

Applicants are supposed to travel to Canada within the tenure mentioned on the stamped visa. The tenure is generally till the time passport is valid or till medical proof is valid, whichever is earlier. In any case, visa will not be for more than 1 year.

Applicants are supposed to plan their travel, temporary or permanent migration, to Canada within the Visa timelines and submit one copy of CoPR at the time of landing. The other copy is stamped and returned.

Submitting CoPR means that Candidates have successfully landed in Canada and this in turn initiates the PR

card application for each applicant.

Cost - Travel Cost of each applicant

Step 9: Receive PR card (2–3 months)

Official PR Card processing time is 62–65 days and the PR card will be couriered to the address given by the applicants at the time of their landing. The address has to be a Canadian address.

PR Card will be delivered to the address within 50–80 days. In case you have performed soft landing (temporary migration) just to fulfill the landing formalities before the Visa expires, you can request any friend coming to your native country to bring along your PR card or you can apply for PR travel document from your home country next time you want to go to canada without having PR card.

PR cards are not couriered outside Canada and have to be delivered in person in such scenarios.

Step 10: You are Canadian PR. Enjoy!

Once you have your PR card, you are officially a Canadian PR. Have fun!

PR card is provided with validity of 5 years. A person is suppose to live in Canada for 730 days in consecutive 5 years to continue his/her PR card for next 5 years after the expiry.

If a person has stayed in Canada for more than 1095 days in consecutive 5 years, he/she is eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.

Some Acronyms Frequently Used in this post & during Visa Processing:

CLB - Canadian Language Benchmark
ECA - Education Credential Assessment
EE - Express Entry
ROI - Round of Invitations
ITA - Invitation to Apply
CoPR - Confirmation of Permanent Residency
PPR - Passport Request
PR - Permanent Resident (Residency)

All the best!
Thanks a million.

I asked a question here 2 days ago if you could claim points for your in-laws that are PR or Citezins in Canada. There were mixed answers but for the benefit of those that don't know, I worked it out and the answer might help someone here.

YOU CAN CLAIM 15 POINTS FOR YOUR IN-LAWS IN CA but on two conditions;

1. They obviously have to be PRs or Citizens
2. Your spouse related to them must accompany you to CA if not ..... embarassed embarassed sorry no 15 points.

When filling the profile on EE, the PA will indicate no relative by blood in CA. That's not all. When filling the section for your accompanying spouse, you could input the relative and select the relationship.

Gbam...... it all add up for you as 15 points eventually.

Hope this would help someone. It worked perfectly for me.
