The Chairman, Air Peace, Mr Allen Onyema, has said, if Nigeria harnesses its human, natural and natural resources well and embraces unity, the country will be greater than all the countries in Europe put together.

Onyema, who had offered his company’s aircraft to airlift stranded Nigerians in South Africa following the recent xenophobic attacks, made the assertion in Lagos on Thursday during his investiture as an ‘Ambassador of Change’ by a non-governmental organisation, Centre for Change.

The Air Peace boss urged all Nigerians to work together in salvaging the country, saying government alone could not develop the country.

He said, “Nigeria is a country of 378 ethnic nationalities; that means we have a huge diversity. This diversity is supposed to be our strength but it has become an albatross of a kind to us. Why can’t we manage our diversity for the good and development of our nation?

The list goes on forever about how a united Nigeria is much better, has more potential and is great. My grand parents heard the same old news, my parents heard it, I heard it, my children are hearing it.

Yet the reality is that despite 105 as a country and 59 years as a nation, we have never bonded as a people, we have never trusted each other, we have never been united, we dont love each other and we are not progressing.

How long will we keep deceiving each other? Is it until Lugard resurrects from the dead to tell us he made a mistake bringing us together in 1914?

It is time for us to admit that Nigeria was an experiment that has long failed. Denying this failure that is self evident in hope that a miracle will happen to unite Nigeria is an exercise in futility

Let us all call a referendum and go our separate ways. The unity of Nigeria has already taken millions of lives for nothing, it does not need to take any more
