he's right, south east is too small and should be one state.

Very useless region, they contribute nothing but also want free money from fg

I don't discuss Edo much because, is a pure village.

We are not talking about the north here bro, we are talking abt Nigeria and this is because the government has so much focussed its attention to crude oil exploration and decided to abandoned other vital sectors in the country. For instance, Botswana's major source of revenue is COW exportation. Dont you think we will achieve better as a country if the government looks into other sectors. There is no state in this country that has no form of resources that can generate more revenue to our dear nation. What we need to do is to forget abt north, east or south and focused on Nigeria. Lets not get divided by religion and culture because wen u look at things as a whole, we are all human beings. You are a christain or muslim not by choice but because u were born into a christain or muslim family. So lets drop tribe, region and religion aside and think like human beigns bro. Cheers
Your contribution is apt, but we are dealing with people who feels that because of their large landmass which culminates to an overbloated population have the birthright to managing Nigeria solely for their on interest.

You are 100% right. It is unfutunate they behave and think the way they do. Things are evolving and people are getting wiser everyday, the mistake has already been made by our forefathers but we as future leaders must break the barriers and unite ourselves. We have a strong challange ahead of us but with more enlightment, education and prayer we will get there one day. Thanks for your contribution nd concern. One Nigeria bro

When you compare population size to IGR, I really dont think SE is at the bottom ten.

By this, are you then admitting that all you people have been saying about the North having a large but unproductive population was all rubbish fit for the same latrine?.

Simply put, so the North's massive population is now suddenly productive which is the reason the SE lags behind?

Interesting fact is that the SE is not only the tiniest in land mass, but is also the least productive region.

For your information (though I suspect you're aware), apart from being the tiniest region, the SE also has the smallest internally generated revenue making it the least productive region.

That makes your logic perfect for a pit latrine smiley

The contributions of the South east indigenes to the Nigerian economy is beyond internally generated revenue which is more often than not a product of tax.

If I decide to indiscriminately increase taxation in anambra, the igr would rise.
But that is just lazy economics.

Check out any productive sector of Nigeria and tell me who plays it better than the Igbo.

Can you believe your eyes? Is not how big really the size is!

Lagos being the least State in terms of land mass, ironically is the most populated, patronized, successful and popular of all the States.

Size in this context is not only irrelevant but inconsequential.

My dear State is ranked 9th, but with worse economic fortunes than Lagos.

Size of dick does not determine weight, life span and fortune of the resulting baby.

So which state "indiscriminately increased taxation" which boosted their IGR? Is it in Northern Japan? You have lied to yourselves that you're greater than everyone else for so long that the actual reality stings you so sharply that you must continue to lie no matter how brainlessly ridiculous it sounds.

Let's even imagine your excuse was valid, wouldn't the ability for businesses in the more productive states to pay those "high taxes" and STILL remain in business an indicator of higher economic prosperity?

How does your "excuse" change the fact that Igbo STATES generate the least revenue internally within their 8 X 6 states?

Don't even bother to answer cool

Simple.

The entire Internally Generated Revenue (measures the internal productivity from economic activities in a state) of the 5 states combined is the least of the 6 regions.

Apart from being the tiniest and most politically insignificant region of course.

Not hate, just facts my fellow Fulani "lover".

What are you about?
IGR is a function of taxation. It is about the state.
The bigger the taxes, the bigger the IGR.
Has nothing to do with you.
A state like anambra with relatively a significant industrial sector can have low taxation as an economic policy, which would invariably lead to a relatively low IGR.

Nigeria's productivity is hinged on commerce, oil, agriculture, and the entertainment industry.
I was expecting you to tell me how your people contribute to those sectors, not mindless mumbo jumbo.

Not really, the issue is that the grasses are seasonal and usually dry up after the rainy season which is shorter in the North, prompting migration.

You have failed to answer the all important question.

So which state "indiscriminately increased taxation" which boosted their IGR? Is it in Northern Japan?

Take note:

1. Tax is NOT the only form of government revenue. There are state owned enterprises among others that generate revenue (museums, parks, hotels etc) for the Govt, state owned bonds and other investments AMONG other revenue sources. I'm shocked you're ignorant of this basic knowledge.

2. We are discussing the productivity of states /regions and NOT national productivity. Pay Attention.

Two states of the South east are in the Niger delta pumping oil as we speak.

If we are truly talking about productivity of states, add up the revenues those States generates off their land per day.
Then we can see true productivity.
Re: Nigeria's 36 States & FCT Ranked In Order Of Land Mass: Photos by TSRC: 1:21pm On Sep 30, 2019
And yes, the south east has the lowest taxation regime in the South.
It is a deliberate action given the medium scale of most of the businesses.

And we all know taxation is the greatest determinant of IGR in Nigeria.
