Taribo West, tough as nails, one of the toughest defenders Nigeria have ever produced.. Groomed and polished by the legendary Guy Roux at Auxerre.

finidi george , came to limelight in 1991 as an homebased eagle who would claim the man of the match in nigeria's deciding nation's cup qualifier after providing three of the four goals scored by rashidi yekini against burkina faso in a 7-1 rout .will later become arguably thebest crosser of the ball in europe as well as a vital cog in the all conquering ajax amsterdam team of 93-96 .indeed , he provided the assist for ,guess who?rashidi yekini to register perhaps his fnest moment in international football when he latched on to his(finidi's) inch perfect pass to score nigeria's first ever w2orld cup goal in u.s.a'94 . Coolheaded on/off the pitch ,he is an humble person and a model professional .A shame how the curtains was brought down on his international career though , no thanks to your then NFA .

Gentle giant (Uche okechukwu), peter Rufai(Dodo mayana) Rashidi Yekini, uche okafor, these guyz
also were inner caucus of that golden era of Nigerian football. I will never forget U S A 94' and Atlanta 96'. A divided team caused the flops of France 98'.

They won African Nations cup in 94. Rufai, Amokachi, Jay Jay, finidi, Oliseh.

Qualified Nigeria for the world cup for first time ever.

Had Highest ranking attained by any African team at the time and I'm tempted to believe ever.

Won Olympic gold. Tijani, Cele, Taribo, Amokachi, Oliseh and of course Kanu.
Why r u responding to that guy, he wasn't born then

he never won the caf african best player due to some cracking talent abound in the continent then like abedi pele, yekini , weah ,ndoram japhet to name a few though he was the most decorated among them all as far as team honours go from 93-96 . He would later make a quite unexpected but financially rewarding switch to ambitious spanish outfit real betis with their home boy the legendary alfonso peres .he quickly established himself as a fan facourite at the andalusian based club whose fans affectionately call him FINITO .would turn out to have an equally successful spell at ipswich town in the english premiership .As for the tail end of his international career , he was , to put it simply , scapegoated among other senior members of the team who challenged the then f.a chiefs ' handling of the national team, a move that will cause the supposed rebel or ' mafia ' their world cup place in 2002 as the f.a used their extra time defeat in the semi final to senegal in the '02 nation's cup to blacklist them from the team and while the aftermath was messy especially coming from the dust the ousted captain sunday oliseh raised in the media , the gentleman in george finidi typically let it all rest . Knowing finidi , one will think the patriot in him just concluded that nigeria is more important than any distraction he would cause by challenging his unceremonious axe from the team he gave it all for over a decade .
