Had Nigeria been a reasonable country, Taraba State University and the likes wouldn't qualify to be awarded a Polytechnic let alone University

It should be a College of Education for Agriculture intents.
Just look at you type there. If I may ask, on what ground you think Taraba state is not worthy or qualify to establish a University institution?

Democracy is not in danger, since it is PDP government
sharrap not everybody is a member of a political party like u. If it is wrong it is wrong whether it's a PDP or APC governor. They're all thesame people in case you're yet to realise

Aslong as we are still in democracy the vp has no other choice bt to look the other way. Students are free to criticize government the last time I checked.

Let me ask is it in the constitution of Nigeria that a student of a state university cannot critize the government or governor? If not they better recal the student back. He exercised his right and u can’t take it away from him.

If the vp is an appointee of the Governor the student is not an appointee. He came there on merit.
You don't talk like someone who knows a thing about the constitution , which section and sub-section did you find what you just said in the constitution ..
You Confidently said VP twice instead of VC.... this means you don't even read what you type.... and you're here talking about constitution....
Go and read the "1999 Nigerian Constitution As amended"..... under the Rights of the citizens, read freedom of speech also read the pros and cons of freedom of speech...... come back and tell me what you understand..

Waiting on Wadata plaza to comment, since they have been the biggest promoters of freedom of expression and spearhead attacks on Buhari and APC with regards to *human rights abuses*.

Waiting on pdp supporters to also come tell us how ALL our leaders are useless instead of specifically criticizing one of their own governors.
you want to turn dis issue to pdp and Apc one abi

Ure concerned about little typos instead of explaining ur point. I don’t know exactly what the constitution says on pros and cons bt I know about freedom of speech and A student can’t be stopped from criticizing government. Go take a look at Hong Kong. Students are leading the protests. Let me not talk about America other civilized countries. The governor is a demi god here I can see.

But a local activist, Jen Jibrin, told PREMIUM TIMES, that reason given by the institution was a smokescreen to ‘deal’ with the student who is a well-known online critic of the governor.
So, he made the criticism of the governor a career? Good for him that he had found what he was looking for

This should be one of the prono bono cases they should be talking about.
But when it comes to Sowore's case, the lawyers should keep quiet, right?

But the concerned student is still enjoying his freedom of speech now. No one has picked him up or arrested him for criticising the governor on Facebook. No one can link his dismissal from the school with his criticism of the governor. So, what part of his freedom of speech has been taken away?

I have come to understand that people post comments on nairaland just to book space. The reason the university gave is false. It is just a smokescreen to expel this guy.
I am from Taraba state and what the activist say is true.

Freedom of speech ? Article 19 huh
Article 19 is Freedom of Speech. Please under Article Number what is Freedom After Speech? No Article. Nigeria's politicians are all mad. When you are dealing with mad men, be cautious.

I imagined whether you've ever attended a university matriculation. Who signs that? Not signing a matriculation register can always be regularized

My dear, every country has it's own constitution because a student does that in Hong Kong doesn't mean that would work here too..
i don't have time to start explaining the constitution for you, take your time out to read it better still download it from your playstore or whatever device you use and read. simple..

But the report clearly states he was expelled because he failed to sign an oath form . We need more clarification , I doubt the state govt has a hand in this
I never signed that thing called Oath form nor attend the matric.... Infact I still remember, lots of my friends never did and we never had any issues till we graduated. It's just a flimsy excuse to nail the boy... They probably sees the boy as a potential activist who would pose a threat within the rank of students union government.

Where are the hold your leaders accountable crew?

I always say this, I mustn't be the one to suffer before Nigeria becomes a better country. Let's go with the status quo.

Show me one ordinary Nigerian that has tried to hold his/her leader accountable and didn't suffer humiliation.

Nnamdi Kanu was right, Nigeria is a zoo.
I'm from middle belt by the way.

For signing an oath letter? Please don’t make me laugh. That was the only thing they could find on the critic. Let them open their oath letter box so we can see how many students actually sign it.

Use your head!!! You think a government that wants to punish you will outrightly do that on the premise of your actions towards them?.
So, you expect them to use a convenient reason other than this abi?.

[quote author=Franklyspeakin post=82991818]Though he should have filled the form, that isn't concrete enough for such a decision to be implemented. This is a shame to d PDP governor. Although he could HV brought out this propaganda to get the school to pardon him after the outcry from this claim. The boy is at fault here. Where was he when others did theirs[/quote

You sef still don't understand how government works when they want to deal with you. Why do you think they use EFCC to dig up your file when you start talking for a good cause?. They just looked for a way to hang a bad name to a dog.
