Just take a look at most developed and wealthy nations on Earth, US, UK, Japan, China, Russia, Canada, Germany and the rest are mostly monolingual or there's one two or three dialects which everyone understands. Does that mean that a large portion of their problems has been cut off?

Why didn't they do the same in Colonial Africa, if it could work for them or where they experimenting or am i wrong??

there is a reason for the story in the bible about the tower of babel. when they had similar language ,they were able to achieve a lot. these white men knew the potentials in the south that is why they had to check mate us with the uneducated north.

At times I try not to think of it as a problem but it definitely is one

One could argue that homogeneity fastens growth as there's not much lingual, cultural, religious or tribal differences. People have a lot in common. There tend to be more understanding.

However a country that's heterogeneous like ours...

Am not trying to promote secessionist ideas but a heterogeneous settings like ours is bound to collapse even under the weight of a non federal working system!

I mean check out Africa as a whole!

It's not Africa's fault they chosed to engage in assimilation wars to reduce the number of ethnic groups!

you are an intelligent being, that's why in Nigeria we want Biafra so we can stand on our own.

in Biafra other ethnic groups means nothing because of their size, if every body speaks igbo thats all. The major problem if Nigeria divide will lay i the middle belt.

I think most countries are monolingual due to geography, trade and conquest ans natural development of the culture. Lets look at the UK specifically there English were dominant and forced English on rest of the island. Scottish people and Irish originally spoke Gaelic.

It does help but the goal should be common cultural values based around civic nationalism. The ethno state model is works when it can occur natural. The Kurds are exhibit A about why you dont create it by force.
