Obi Umahi was never a Gov of Rivers. Rather he was head of the Militaru task force that was charged with the pacification/ terrorization of MOSOP and Ogoniland lol. Ofc such a devious post has dividends. Obviously.....

But by then he was a Major and Gov umahi was in his late 20s to early 30s.

You're on point. A billion naira in the late 80s was like 20-40 million (even more when we adjust for cpi for purchasing power) usd and the national budget was something like 10 billion or so as 1986 to 1989 oil glut deflated prices in the hydrocarbon market.

Ofc those who dont infer smartly or just plain believe everything they see without any reference wouldn't see these things...

Even Abiola them were not just talking billions anyhow. Hell Dangote wasnt even doing revenues topping just a billion. U hear such nonsense talk from ppl like this and not real industrial powers of old such as Rabiu( BUA's late father), Dantata, Modandola, Ibru... I mean if Ibeto says he made a billion in the early 80s that wouldnt be hard to believe. The spare parts business was good to the dominant Nnewi entrepreneurs who were able to surf the waves of uncertainty and border closures of that time and actually had the physical capital in hotels factories houses etc to prove it.
