The problem is , beauty contest organisers have a very tiny pool to choose from.

Most Nigerian parents think that beauty pageants are sinful garbage. (and Agbani Darego, for example, was criticsed in some quarters when she won, and even Redeemed, her church, had to make some comments sort of distancing themselves from her decision to do pageants.), and as such won't let their child take part.

Add the perception that beauty paegeant organisers sample the fruit, so to speak....which makes matters worse.(and yes, it does happen)

This leaves a very tiny pool of mostly not too beautiful ladies to choose from at the end of the day. Darego and Ambassador Mrs Ojukwu were kind of lucky exceptions.

Miss Taraba or another( can't recollect) should have won. I don't think she will make much impact on the world's stage though I believe she's intelligent which is a plus.

The reason why you don't see those Ekiti babes in beauty pagenats is simple...

1.Their parents don't think that pageants are a palce for 'decent girls/ladies'.

2.The only thing their parents want for their female children is good job and good husband and good grandchildren.
