I am not arguing with you. My point is, just because they can't do a particular thing, or are yet to, doesn't mean we can't.

Okay now I get your point.

Generally bro indians are better programmers than we are. Yes there may be 1,2 or 3 Nigerians I mean a few 9ja programmers who can stand up to them, but generally bro they are better. BITTER TRUTH
You are wrong bro. I've been a programmer/ Business Intelligence Developer for 20 years. Nigerians are equally good.

Very possible! I work and still make out time to write programs. Meanwhile, my present job description is not related in anyway to software development.

At first, I had no idea that there was something called programming until I entered the University(studying Computer Science by the way) .Then I saw some guys coding with Html, got interested in the way you could change the colors and image of a webpage. Learnt HTML, CSS, Javascript and now on Python .AI is my goal though .

I am not saying there are no good Nigerian programmers. I am talking on a general note. India is the second largest exporter of software second only to the USA. Forget patriotism and pride Indians are better than us. Like I said before there will only be a few 9ja programmers who can stand up to them.

lol sir! concerning what that guy said I guess we just have to admit that Indians are better. imagine me trying to build circuit and I have to import machine printed circuit board from asian countries. in technology world I don't think we could undermine those Indian guys. we have our experts sir but I believe they have more expert.
untill Nigeria start producing electronic components and pcb that would boost embedded programmers work. I don't think we have the necessary available tools to become equally good as others, though I knw we can even beat them.

While this is true, you find that most programmers especially those in general applications development (mobile, web) are faced with, monotonous tasks on their day to day job, implement login/logout, fix broken code, add new server, add a create button, remove that "show all users feature" and so on. If any task requires that you do any serious problem solving, there is most likely a library that exists that does it better and faster than you would have done, and is most likely bug free.

Its even a mark of an efficient developer to depend on third party libraries rather than try to write code from scratch. So you can understand why many programmers do not see the need/bother about algorithms.

you must really underrate a computer science degree, i'm not a CS student either, but if i could go back in time, i'd surely pick CS, i plan on doing a masters in CS if things go well.

Let me give you an overview of what cs students learn.
Data structures and algorithms
discrete maths
graph theory, automata theory
operating systems, Networking
Databases, Programming, Dynamic programming and electives in Artificial inteligence, Cryptocurrency e.t.c

Software Engineering students have some other topics added to their syllabus that relates purely to software engineering, Like Software Design and so on.

Self taught guys are just good at a language or framework, CS students are taught to solve problems regardless of language or framework. Framework/Language will come and go, The Fundamentals will always remain, The best programmers aren't self taught, they went to school, forget about Zuckerberg, i heard he wasn't even a badass dev sef.

The bad Guy in his team was D'angelo, the quora guy, that guy has been winning awards since he was in high school, and completed his degree in harvard(or princeton not sure), take a look at the founders of large corporations, all CS grads, and from IVY league schools (Harvard, princeton, stamford), from pinterest to dropbox, to stackoverflow, to wherever. The Zuckerberg story isn't common at all.

Bill gates is another story entirely, he isn't just a programmer, he's a mad ass genius, he even created his own algorithm, pancake flip, during his stay at harvard, i heard its used in biomed engineering or something. Do you know the book the art of computer programming?, check it out.
Bill gates finished the four volumes in 6 months, to even see the book sef from the first page, i wan blind grin grin. So forget bill gate matter.

The best programmers are CS students, There are obviously bad-ass self-taught devs, but these are real mad geniuses, not a guy who picked up java or python and built apps or games. These ones are very good also, certainly, at best decent but levels dey, and they (CS grads) are the ones that built these large corporations like facebook into what they are today, the self-taught founders are just the face of the company.
Nicee..

Also looking to get a masters in CS.. did BSc. Electrical/Electronics Engineering, you think it's possible to cope with it?
