The Nigeria Labour Congress has threatened to go on Nationwide strike, on Wednesday, October 16, if the Federal Government fails to meet their negotiations. NLC has directed its State council to prepare for the strike.

Emmanuel Ugboaja, general secretary of the state council to NLC, disclosed this in a circular, said this is a notice incase the FG fails to meet its negotiations with the council has stated for October 15.

The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) had reported that the Organized Labour demanded increments, up to 29% for public servants on salary level of 07 to 14 and 24% adjustment for public servants on salary grade level 15 to 17.

According to NAN implementation of the 30,000 minimum wage has been a challenge to the FG, arising from the issue of relativity and consequential adjustments.

On May 14, Fedral Government inaugurates relativity and consequential adjustment committee, which in turn set up a technical sub-committee to work out a template for the adjustment of salaries of public service employees.

Consequently, the Labour Congress and the Federal Government has failed to reach an agreement on the implementation of the minimum wage more than six month after its has been signed into law.
