So what is this list you posted? The list that are full of politicians as greatest Africans is what you’re using as a measure of importance or intellect.

Obasanjo and George Weah is even also included in the list and I don’t have a choice but to question your sanity!

I am not talking about invictus obi here. No tribe has monopoly of crime in Nigeria. Every tribe is involved in crime. Come to think of it , if all the politicians invest their stolen wealth in Nigeria and create employment like Invictus Obi did, would anybody complain. So leave Invictus matter
What is even the crux of the matter. Based on what you posted, Emegwali did what most doctoral student always do, which is to add to knowledge and improve processes.

He did not invent any internet, all he did was to use the Los Alamos National laboratory connecting machine to increase that particular machine (computer) microprocessors speed.

What exactly is his invention other than improving the processes already in place. I’m willing to learn from you!

Presently we have what is called the K computer that can calculate 10 quadrillion per seconds which exceeds what was stated there about philips. This was in 2012.

https://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2012/02/12/general/10000000000000000-calculations-per-second/#.XaMr7SUpCaM

After some years, that will also be modified to calculate more than that.

Currently these are the list of fastest computers and Philip’s is no where to be found in top 5. So what exactly are you guys taking about?

Wole Soyinka is below Achebe based on which metrics. I’m listening!

Even the link you posted just listed 5 of African authors in no definite order and Wole is also part of it.

What exactly are you saying and what is the essence of the link you posted?

Take note I never mentioned that he discovered the internet.

At Michigan, he participated in the scientific community's debate on how to simulate the detection of oil reservoirs using a supercomputer. Growing up in an oil-rich nation and understanding how oil is drilled, Emeagwali decided to use this problem as the subject of his doctoral dissertation. Borrowing an idea from a science fiction story about predicting the weather, Emeagwali decided that rather than using 8 expensive supercomputers he would employ thousands of microprocessors to do the computation.

The only step left was to find 8 machines and connect them. (Remember, it was the 80s.) Through research, he found a machine called the Connection Machine at the Los Alamos National Laboratory, which had sat unused after scientists had given up on figuring out how to make it simulate nuclear explosions. The machine was designed to run 65,536 interconnected microprocessors. In 1987, he applied for and was given permission to use the machine, and remotely from his Ann Arbor, Michigan, location he set the parameters and ran his program. In addition to correctly computing the amount of oil in the simulated reservoir, the machine was able to perform 3.1 billion calculations per second.

The crux of the discovery was that Emeagwali had programmed each of the microprocessors to talk to six neighboring microprocessors at the same time.

The success of this record-breaking experiment meant that there was now a practical and inexpensive way to use machines like this to speak to each other all over the world. Within a few years, the oil industry had seized upon this idea, then called the Hyperball International Network creating a virtual world wide web of ultrafast digital communication.

The discovery earned him the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers' Gordon Bell Prize in 1989, considered the Nobel Prize of computing, and he was later hailed as one of the fathers of the Internet. Since then, he has won more than 100 prizes for his work and Apple computer has used his microprocessor technology in their Power Mac G4 model. Today he lives in Washington with his wife and son.

@the bolded was the invention that became the foundation for supercomputers. You shouldn't expect him to be among the fastest computer inventors you mentioned because that was 30 years ago.The world have moved past that stage but it still doesn't make his discovery irrelevant. Charles Babbage is regarded as the father of computer today not because we still use his analytical engine but because he laid the foundation for today's computer.

No one is scared of Igbos you slowpoke. They are worried about your predilection for being extremely partisan towards your own while having no compunction against blatant unfairness to others. This is proven historically and remains a facet of your behaviour till today. With ultimate power comes ultimate responsibility. Igbos have never showed they are responsible enough to carry everyone along and be fair to all so you tell me how others will feel comfortable with granting them ultimate power. Olodo.

VP THAT IS A HOUSE BOY AND SPEAKER THAT IS INCONSEUQENTIAL TO THE SENATE.

IT IS EVEN BETTER TO BE DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT THAN SPEAKER.
A V.P that has acted as president three times, made appointments and even fired the Buhari's appointees is an houseboyhuh

So piggiiidddiotsss are desperately salivating for V.P positionhuh

Speaker is no 4, Deputy Senate President is no 5 in the order of precedence. Nothing scales through except the HoRs approve it. So stop consoling yourself... tongue

Thanks for your contribution, you have clearly shown what he did is just to improve processes which is a continuous form of knowledge. Before Emegwali there have been numerous researchers in the field of microprocessors and after Emegwali there are countless researchers that have modified that field.

Like you opined, what he was able to achieve helped in the Oil exploration field and no one is disputing the fact.

Can you see how you explained this, other people have a fixated mind of thinking Emegwali actually was an inventor of Internet because some articles called him the father of Internet.

If many Igbos are like you, then it would have been nice. No one is disputing the fact that Emegwali contributed to knowledge in that field, but the Crux of the matter is that some people are adducing too much to him especially those with limited knowledge about how research works.

For example Silas Adekunle, a Yoruba guy was known to have released the world’s first augmented reality gaming robot, with the special ability to customise the gaming bot to perform personalised functions. As at 2018, he was the highest paid robotic engineer in the world.

While he pioneered the gaming robot, it will be ignorant for us to say he was the father of robot coz people have been doing robotic engineering even before he was born and people are still doing it till now even more than his capacity.

Gracias bro

This has to be the joke of the year. Igbo man talking of Yorubas not being trusted. Abeg look in the mirror to see the face of the most distrusted human being in the world. Whether Ghana, Malaysia, South Africa, Cameroon, Pakistan or even the most remote corner of Afghanistan it is you people who now have a universal reputation for being distinctly untrustworthy.
