Proxy in the sense of partners who will include them and not relegate them as everyone fear Igbos capable of doing. It will be an SW Presidency but the point is that that North can sleep easy knowing they will not be discriminated against or at the end of unfavourable policies that may be punitive for the North and good for others. They feel the SW will carry them along better than the SE for sure. Unfortunately, Igbos are responsible for how the North perceives them.
So why are the northerners so scared of been descriminated against or been at the receiving end of unfavourable policies?,it simply means the north knows they have never been fair in their handling of the country's affairs n they fear for the repercussions but for them to feel comfortable with you as their proxies,it then means they consider you to be weak n easily manipulable n it's not something you should be proud of or celebrate.if this is the reason they don't trust igbos n you happily support them then you are the real sabotuers to the true unity n progress of the country.

I just highlighted the insults.

This looks like masters who hired labourers reprimanding his slaves.

More like the early days of Arab slavery.

What is insulting in his statement? Tell me what is insulting in calling a Spade a Spade.

Who is Ayo Adebanjo to dictate to Yorubas talkless of dictating to Nigerians. While I SUPPORT Adebanjo's stand, it should be recognized for what it is - A PERSONAL OPINION (which he is entitled to have).

Who is Akintoye? and, who made him a Yoruba leader? Bunch of people that cannot win elections on their streets purporting themselves as leaders.

As earlier said, I am an advocate of Igbo Presidency in 2023. But can someone tell me of an Igbo Man that have the political clout to becoming the President of Nigeria. I can't see any.

The closest Igbo man I can think of is Peter Obi. I believe he committed POLITICAL SUCIDE by aligning himself with a known LOOTER (Atiku). Now Atiku will want to run again in 2023 and Obi has lost the support of egalitarian Westerners like me.

If you know any other Igbo man, please say.

Telling you the truth is 'propagating hate'? We are 'propagating hate' saying the North is wary of an Igbo Presidency given how you insult them 24/7 and belittle them non-stop?

This is why you guys should not comment on Yoruba affairs. You are too emotional and always looking for ways to insult and denigrate others. Not a fan of Mohammed but nothing he says that we Yorubas do not say worse in regard to Afenifere and other Yoruba groups that have now rendered themselves impotent and disdained because they wake up daily terribly envious of Tinubu and obsessing over how to thwart and emasculate Jagaban.

Sadly, Tinubu has real political power and clout while these clowns do not so Junaid Mohammed is correct mocking Afenifere and "Yoruba leader" Akintoye many have not heard of until some mushroom group conducted a bogus election yesterday all for the sake of disenfranchising the influence of Tinubu over the Yorubas and aligning us under the PDP.

Mohammed may not like Jagaban but he respects him as a man of influence and excellent politician who has worked hard to be where he is in life. Mohammed , like many other, cannot have an iota of respect for Akintoye because the first question has to be "what has he done for Yorubas?". We all know what Tinubu, like or hate him, has done. Tinubu's credentials are not questionable at all.

You are obviously a traitor within. One of those children of migrant lineages in Yorubaland probably from Fulani blood

What has Akintoye done for the yorubas?
1. He is one of the leading professors from Yorubaland, known worldwide
2. He is an authority on Yoruba history and has done a lot to bring to light the inherent greatness of the Yoruba as evident from our history
3. He is a man of immense love and dedication to the Yoruba nation and people
4. He is a disciple of Awolowo and a staunch Awoist in terms of political ideology
5. He is dedicated to restructuring or independence - what the Yoruba need and have needed for decades now

In what way has Akintoye acted against Tinubu? Why would Akintoye our leader need to struggle with Tinubu when he's not Bode Thomas?

Ayo is important. Junaid is important. The Issue, Igbo-Presidency, is very important.
Grant Full Autonomy to our 36 Constitutional States and the very important issue will be easier solved and done.

Another emotional Yoruba and likely hater of Tinubu. Was Awolowo that Akintoye is touted a replacement for a historian or scholar alone or a sagacious political leader who sought political office to use to transform the fortunes of the Yorubas? Look at other region too. Buhari is regarded father of the North. Is he a school teacher or Political leader? Buhari's name alone made some Governor of Northern States !!!! Who knows Akintoye?

What of Ojukwu? Why is he viewed the greatest leader of Igbos in the modern age? Because he wrote journals or because he tried to lead from the front and through political self-determination? Not even a fan of Nnamdi Kanu but I am intelligent enough to know it is his kind a people will follow and queue behind and not a Professor or academic. Igboland is short of academics when many from the region decided to install Kanu a leader of influence and not the thousands of super scholars the region has in its rank today?

Tinubu led us to influence at the centre. We should now dump that to follow Akintoye? The leader of a people gives them direction and fight battles on their behalf to secure their progress in a competitive world. Check history to see the leaders of a people have usually being warriors and men of influence like Winston Churchill, Fidel Castro, Kwame Nkrumah, Thomas Sankara, Ataturk (called the father of Turkey) et al who lead from the front and not intellectuals like Wole Soyinka, Chinua Achebe or Akintoye.

Where was Akintoye, 84, when the much Younger Tinubu, Fayemi and even Dele Momodu (with a lot more to lose) were fighting Abacha who was seeking to dismember his Yoruba ethnic group? Even Momodu is more worthy in my understanding of a leader of a people than Akintoye who is no doubt a distinguished scholar but not much else.

You can choose an apolitical scholar your own leader but you don't know more than most Yorubas who accept Tinubu as the foremost Yoruba leader of influence today even if some arrogant and envious men want to force Akintoye on Yorubas. The day Akintoye can influence the emergence of an Osinbajo or support the finest Yoruba leaders into influential offices across Yoruba land, to aid our progress as a people, then we can talk. We are not merely just looking for a historian to lead us. Get that distinction right to understand why Jagaban is popular among the people but not the envious, arrogant and impotent leaders of Afenifere et al.

You are right. Yet Yorubas know we can count on Jagaban to ensure Yorubas are never relegated in the grand scheme of things. This is why he is both a Yoruba and National leader.

It is no new thing to use social media to try to belittle people who are not your mates so I'm not surprised at your comments about the Emeritus Professor and new Yoruba leader
Nor is it news that mediocrity is embellished in Nigeria. But the sttupid thing is the downplaying of Wole Soyinka 's intellectualism and political activism or Akintoye's vocal political activities since his time as a senator of the second republic or downplaying his contribution to the celebration and knowledge base of the Yoruba nation... He has been invited all of the world and all over Yorubaland to political and cultural meetings in the aim to move the Yoruba nation forward... How many has Tinubu contributed to?
Kwame Nkrumah was an intellectual, so was Awolowo. In earlier years after independence from European powers, African states produced leaders of intellectual personality. So what nonsense are you saying?
Is it the Rubbish administration and lack of insight and foresight of a person like Buhari that is your model way to run a government or lead a people? Or the use of thugs and 5,000 naira giveaway that is your model of good leadership for Yorubas? Or a person of questionable history and allegations of drug trafficking?
Mention one controversy surrounding Akintoye or one point asides the ridiculous call of "unpopularism"
And let me address this. If he was unknown he wouldn't have remained relavant and active all these years... It is his disdain for talking too much or talking Rubbish or engaging in unhealthy attention seeking gimmicks like many we know that make him not appear on the news every week.. He is not a bobrisky or Dino melaye type politician and certainly not a Mafia Godfather type like Tinubu
But he has the quality Yoruba were looking for in a leader and Yoruba organizations met to elect him.
If he was to be a party candidate, you will say he is partisan. Now for years he has been active in the inner logistics and planning for the development of the Yoruba... Yet you say he is not a party candidate and cannot win election, who ever said he was interested in running for any election again? He did that in the second republic and realized the unhealthy nature of the scene..

I won't say more than this, it is not on nairaland I will be discussing sensitive Yoruba issues
Those of us who are working for the development of the Yoruba nation know what we must do... Traitors and infiltrators will also do what they must do which is to further frustrate the Yoruba agenda but they will fail
Oodua a gbe wa oo
