I hope ducts for use by telecoms and other utilities are included in the design and construction of the road before request for Right of Way to lay cables et al are being made thereby resulting in damage to the roads.

The finishing is good. Thickness should be between 6-9inches.

However, work is extremely slow. My guess is they are not yet proficient with it unlike bitumen.

False, that road won't last more than a year before it begins to fail. I have three reasons for saying so
1) There are no Expansion Joints
Any road or bridge made of concrete & steel need gaps b/w certain distance for example gaps every 100m. The gap is needed because concrete & steel expands in size during hot sunny day and contracts(reduce) in size during cold. Engineers add gaps so that the road doesnt buckle up and crack during hot and cold day. I guess you must have experience bumps or seen these gaps whenever you pass through a bridge.
2) There is No Surface Cover
Plain concrete road surface need Polishing or covering with coal tar or tarmac. This is because ordinary concrete surface wearout and produce tiny dust particles whenever tyres of vehicles pass through it. Exposed Cement surfaces easily reacts with acidic rain, garbages dumped on it, spills from Petroleum producs and fail.
3) Dangote Cement is not Manufactured Specifically for Road Construction.
There are special type of cement meant for road construction, just like white cement is used for tiles and marble works. Most of the concrete road done in Nigeria by Julius Berger, Dumez and MotherCat uses special type of treated cement that can withstand bending without breaking or cracking, these roads have over 50yrs lifespan and they are seen in some parts of Lagos, Warri, Benin and PH.

Apapa-Wharf road constructed by same Dangote with cement is aready having tiny cracks and have little wear & tear where heavy trucks are parked

I went to drop someone at the airport for 11am flight to Portharcourt. I left the airport around 10.40am, the person got to port harcourt, got to destination in PH, I was still in traffic returning, all because I took that route going towards Cele. The traffic is terrible.

I hope they won't use our whole life time construct road.

They ve been constructing road since 1999...

If they do road A, leading to road B and C, C will be bad b4 they finish A.

When they start fixing C, B will be bad.

When they want to fix B, road A is bad.

Now
The road constructed with poor/bad/sub standard material, which make each road constructed not to last long.

The money allocated to end contractor is always small, which usually cripple the contractor's ability to hire enough ad-hoc and machine, which usually make the contract takes longer time...

If you were on Lagos road yesterday you will be able to relate with the stress people went thru yesterday
The stress yesterday was crazy.
I left my house by 5am.
Went through this oshodi, it was on lock down.
Everywhere was blocked.

I got to my office at festac by 11am.

From Cele to Iyana Isolo these days we pay 200-300 daily

Something we pay 50box for

The traffic on that road …. We can only endure to enjoy later once they don't introduce BRT lanes there

That guy made very salient points don't say what u don't know... Expansion joints are very necessary on concrete roads.
The surface coating however is not as necessary as long as only pneumatic tires and no tracks ply Tue road.
I don't know what he meant by Dangote cement not made for road, maybe hes talking of addictives and fibre mesh technology he must have seen being used during mixing.

Overall, concrete roads should have a minimum of 5-8 years lifespan before repairs.

where is the space for drainagehuhhuh??
That is a federal highway... It's been reconstructed... Drainage on federal (major) roads are mainly designed to be underground drains.
Check.. The road is cambered to one side.

Nice points... But on the third point, there's actually no special cement for road construction... What u talk about are addictive. The one u explain is a plasticider.
It makes the concrete mix become monotonous by giving it plastic qualities.
Others use fiber mesh in place of steel rods or any reinforcement. They all ensure durability of the concrete and good finishing.
U should know however, like in all good things, they have downsides,
An addictive improved concrete takes more time to cure and hence requires constant curing bcoz its mixed with little water and that's why it dries fast.
U will have to keep curing it over 2 weeks unlike a mix without addictives

Of course, the engineers in charge are IT students, they don't know much. You can go and lecture them.

I'm telling him because he seeing cracks on a road that's over a year old does not mean that the raid is bad.

I hail people wey dey ply that road daily
I spent 6 good hours on that road yesterday even trying to
Find a way out of d traffic jam to no avail.
It shall not be well with hitech ,Lagos state govt and who ever
Is supervising that road from d ministry !
Whatever happens to palliative measures on d service lanes
To aid traffic flow from Toyota to cele.
What's going on on that road amounts to genocide as telling you.
Fixing a road isn't tantamount to killing the road users before fixing the road!

This is 2019 it's not prayers we need .we. Need sensitive, responsible and proactive
Leaders and people at helms of affairs who ought to know that when constructing
a new road you need to arrange an alternative road to ease the plight of the people
you are building the road for!

Do you know how many manhour ,money and time lost on that road daily?
It's unquantifiable!!!
